I think you will find supply of the korean twins to increase start of 2020 with the fleet emissions rules, Kia have already decided not to supply Australia with any because of Europe.

2020 will see the new Zoe, e208, corsa-e, ID3 etc etc plenty of cars that should have decent supply.
Of only the Ampera-E (Bolt) was in the UK frown

The 3000 figure is real, the sales are published every month. That's apparently Tesla at max capacity for the UK at the moment.. hope they are ramping that up for the BIK rate next year!
Even in their best month (August), Tesla only managed around 2000 registrations of the Model 3 in the UK. Last October it was down to around 550 across their 3 models currently on sale. The fact that, according to their website, you can order a Model 3 today and get it delivered by December indicates they are nowhere near max. capacity (try to get a factory order from another brand delivered within a month!).

Most other brands have on average 90 days worth of stock sitting round, unless you order something they dont have ready.

In fact Jaguar have more iPace hanging around in dealers in USA than they have sold in the last 12 months and there is something like 12 months supply of etron already sitting around.

Tesla don’t really do factory orders as such, they just churn cars out, ship them and match them to people.

Not necessarily in a fair order though, I got mine after 3 weeks, some people ordered the same car months and months ago and are yet to get a car

Chaos, but the car is fantastic

UK order for the model 3 is
SR+ February
LR December
Perf December

IMO they have ample battery supply (given they are sending packs to China for GF3 production) and want to make/sell as many higher end non SR+ vehicles as they can.

Interesting -- lead times for Germany currently

SR+ February
LR February
Perf December

and the prices moved again, Perf is now suddenly €5k more expensive than in August, but still €5k less than beginning of the year. Find it pretty surprising it jumps around that much... Agree that it looks like they are trying to nudge people on the fence into to higher end cars...

They base everything on what they have already built and are shipping. Unlike most manufacturers there are very few options on the Model 3 and the suggested delivery dates are based on you ordering a standard car which they will have built a load of and already know are en-route. They've been focusing on AWD cars recently hence the LR/P being available in December and the SR+ not till Feb.

Monthly numbers of registered vehicles vary dependent on where they are shipping to so UK didn't get many cars in October as other markets took priority.

Current UK inventory has 3 cars, all LR, all optional white interior, all optional paint, 1 with tow bar. Expect November to be a bumper month sales wise based on the amount of cars that have come through Southampton already.

Well I'm doing my bit, I'm typing from the train on the way to go collect a new LR that we're taking on as a pool car at work. Can't deny I'm a bit pleased to be the one getting to make the collection and having the first go biggrin

Ok I’m looking at taking the plunge.

I have a 140 mile daily commute. Looking at model 3.

I can charge at work and fleet services have fast charge which I pass. Can’t charge at home as we live in a flat.

Been quoted £630 per month. I spend £500 a month on petrol alone. This is a no brainer.
But.
How close are Tesla 3 to the quoted range?

I the winter I think yo'll be looking at a little over 200 miles of real world motorway speed range in a Model 3 LR. I'm picking one up tomorrow and that's what I'm working to, hopefully it will be on the pessimistic side.

Not at all, SR+ in winter you will probbably get 130-140.

Your issue will be not havng a charger at home.

yes
I love my Model S and wouldn't want anything else, but I couldn't make it work and wouldn't advise it to anyone who can't charge at home.

At motorway speeds, I find the range is reduced by about 30%. This is in the dark, with the stereo and heating blazing.

My car has the 20" wheels, which I imagine will make quite a dent in its efficiency. It would be better with the 18" Aeros.

I would suggest moving closer to work would be the no brainer.

Just in case it has a bearing, it's only the northbound Superchargers at Fleet that are working. The Southbound aren't and by all accounts aren't every likely to be. I'm not sure if it's a power or wayleave problem but they are dead.

There's no access from North to South either.

How long do you spend at work? Is the work charging 7kW?

Stats online suggest a 13 hour charge on 7kW for a Model 3. I think you would very quickly run out of charge halfway through a journey if this is all you could rely on.

The 3 can charge up to 11kw, worth finding out about those work chargers.

140 miles is 225 km or under half the range of a lr 3, should be easy even in winter with motorway but then you'd need to push more energy in.

Guessing 40-65kwh from somewhere.

Downside to no home charging is the car and battery will be cold and unconditioned in the morning
