I have always wondered if the name itself was a cockup, Pol = Pole, Stjärna = Star, Polstjärna = Northern star =/= Polestar.

Probably just a simplified writing of the Swedish word?
I like the name, in Dutch we have the "Poolster", which litteraly translates to (North) pole star...

This is just making the MG estate look like the real winner. Half the price and maybe the same range/better range as the P2? Am I mad to be temped by the MG over a Tesla? The 220mile range on the MG really surprised me. Could I live with public charging for saving £20k...

It's strange times in EV land.
Exactly what I am thinking. A friend bought the MG and it feels like a bargain. The Tesla and P2 do not. I am yet to find an EV that is desirable enough for me to want as an only regular car, so I am thinking th MG to be treated as an appliance and lug stuff about, and chopping my current family car, which is also a performance car, in for something a bit more sporty but still with 4 seats.

Received an email from Polestar earlier saying I will get £450 of credit for free with BP and that the warranty is being extended an extra year FOC 😀

Hi there,

Without reading all the pages of this thread why are people getting fuel credit etc, is there a shortage of cars or a delay in delivery dates ?

A guy a few streets away from me has had this appear on his drive over the last week. It has a sticker at the bottom of the door which says Polestar 2 so assuming its a demo or something ?

Regards

Tim

The sticker comes on all of them...

I will be peeling it off upon delivery!

No delay, I have been told Jan next year personally and ordered about 6 -8 weeks ago

Been confirmed my car is in the UK, it wont be delivered until February however...

Looking forward to it arriving and will continue to use the Model 3 until then. The Model 3 itself drives as good as ever but in some areas it is annoying me/not up to standard for the price:

1) The headlamps are very poor unless on main beam
2) The auto-main beam is not very good and seems to have a lag either switching on or off.
3) There doesn't appear to be the option of over riding auto-main beam without keeping the stalk held
4)The app to unlock the car is very hit and miss and I have ended up using the key card far too often
5) The auto-wipers are st
6) You have to press a button on the screen to activate the wipers which is annoying
7) I still can't get used to the speedo being on my left after 4k miles. It just doesn't seem in the right place when behind the wheel...
8) The car needs mud flaps as it gets filthy very quickly. It also gets filthy behind the doors very easily.
9) Seats are not that comfy/supportive, they are ok but don't seem befitting of the price/performance of the car.

I would say that of the £40k, £38k went on the battery, performance and screen leaving £2k for everything else. The car drives well, the battery consumption is good and the technology is generally good however its the basics where it is lacking against established manufacturers be it quality, panel gaps or seat comfort etc.

If you need to do big miles the M3LR is probably better than a Polestar but if not I would suggest its going to be a far better car particularly for someone switching from a Audi or BMW etc.

I don't have particularly good night vision for a middle-aged chap, but I find them absolutely fine.

2) The auto-main beam is not very good and seems to have a lag either switching on or off.
Don't use it a lot, but seems to work OK the few times I do.

3) There doesn't appear to be the option of over riding auto-main beam without keeping the stalk held.
Take it off auto and manually push the stick forward to stay on high-beam, or just the former to remain on low-beam?

4)The app to unlock the car is very hit and miss and I have ended up using the key card far too often
Tesla app on my iPhone SE has never failed to open the car, even when in the opposite pocket of a thick coat. Never once got the card out of my wallet. Also have a RFID ring that works fine too. Other mobile models/brands seem more hit and miss.

5) The auto-wipers are st
They are not as good as they should be. I find them fairly easily modulable for the prevailing rain/shower strength, but they could be improved.

6) You have to press a button on the screen to activate the wipers which is annoying
Voice commands work better for most things instead of pressing buttons on the screen, including for wipers, heating, music, nav, etc.

7) I still can't get used to the speedo being on my left after 4k miles. It just doesn't seem in the right place when behind the wheel...
I actually prefer it in my peripheral vision rather that cluttering up the forward view. Although mine is on the right :-)

8) The car needs mud flaps as it gets filthy very quickly. It also gets filthy behind the doors very easily.
Agreed, mine gets horrendously dirty after going through a couple of shallow puddles.

9) Seats are not that comfy/supportive, they are ok but don't seem befitting of the price/performance of the car.
Agreed, could be better. In my Allroad I could drive all day and get out as fresh as a daisy. Yet to do more than 2hrs at one go in the Model 3, but the seats are obviously not as good as in other German luxury cars I've owned.

Can never work out how to respond underneath quotes...

How do I take the high-beam I assume its in the settings somewhere on a different page on the screen? In terms of the lights for me the dipped beam doesn't seem to light up much of the road ahead and then main beam is very powerful. Recently I have had a new 3 Series, A4, RRS & Volvo S60 this year and the lights seemed far better on all of them.

My phone is a Samsung S20 and it doesn't appear to like it, the phone app has been crashing today as well for some reason. I may try deleting the app and re-installing and see if that helps!

Never been a fan of voice commands personally but I accept that's personal preference smile

I think I was lucky, ordered end of October via work and it arrived a few weeks later. All good so far and nothing has gone wrong.

Lack of badges does get some “is it a Citroen?” comments.

Quite a few EVs now at work thanks to the tax situation, the Polstar 2 looks nice, surprised how big it is, makes my X look normal sized smile

Citroen successfully sued Polestar with a judge ruling that the latter's logo is too similar to theirs!

That’s a good comparison, I’ve seen a couple on the road so far and they hide their size well. Model X doesn’t so much.

Tbh in terms of footprint the TMX is still at least 10% larger in every dimension, which is a lot, especially in width. But I have to agree I've never found it a good looking car.
In terms of loading cargo though... it's comparing a van to a small sedan.

Few pics of mine next to a Model 3 for comparison.

I much prefer it so far (3 days in) and it feels a real quality product and well worth the asking price. I noticed when you turn the rear heated screen on the button gradually lights up and fades away rather than just switching on or off (as an example) which shows the attention to detail.

As expected when I ordered its not as efficient as my SR Model 3 I took a trip today and get 36.9 KW per 100 miles whereas in the Model 3 it was more like 31.5KW so circa 16% less this was circa 40 miles of mixed driving with no pre-heating and the heated seat and steering wheel on in fairly cold conditions which give me a range of about 200/210 miles real-world which is plenty for me and I suspect with pre-heating and summer weather this would increase to 230/240.

My SR Model 3 was giving me about 170/180 so its a useful improvement on that however I expect a L3 M3 would have delivered circa. 250/260 miles with me driving it on the same route.

P.S - I realise my driveway is rather green...

clap That looks amazing!

How is it for practicality vs the TM3? Iirc the boot is about the same but easier since it's a hatch?

Rear boot I would say is a bit better thanks to the hatch and its a more useful size.

The front boot is very small however but I have manged to get the charge leads and my gym bag in it.

I'll grab some photos shortly...

If anyone wants to know ant comparisons let me know as I have the Model 3 for another couple of weeks and have ran it for a few months now.
