Would quite like one of these but it’s just too expensive. I’m guessing most folk get it via their employer but unfortunately my employer doesn’t offer a salary sacrifice scheme.

I wish the government would offer better rebates for private purchasers. Such as what Norway offers.
Yeah but in context, think chipped Golf R performance and no significant fuel bills or servicing (just brakes - minimal, no real fluids)

Then it makes sense - I did look at one - and a Taycan privately. Depends on your situation and mileage.

Not convinced on steering feel, but that’s no different to anything new these days but you would never know in the real world that it’s north of 2 tonnes.
A couple of times I have noticed the weight when I have actually used the brakes, it is also keen to put the hazard lights on if you come to a reasonably fast stop.

took pone out for a test drive.
Bine new to EV, I was taken aback at the 20-60 acceleration.
Add that to the quietness, it was a very relaxing drive.

The weight was noticable as I had to press hard on the brakes after getting enthusiastic on the go pedal.

It hit the spot bar the range concerns, but overall that is not huge as long journeys are not that frequent for me.
It's definitely in contention, but the Q4 etron is a there as well as an alternative ....

cost wise there is a premium for the Audi, but it ticks the elevated driving height for my 5ft nothing wife.
And as it is going to be used to take the family ou and about ...

Also look at the Volvo XC40 Recharge P8. Identical running gear as the Polestar, but with the elevated driving position my wife wants, and a bit more practicality to boot. Great lease deal direct from Volvo Business too.

In my mind, I think it might actually be the ultimate sleeper. For starters, nobody seems to have a clue what it is.

Is it a Citroen?
Thats weird, I thought WTF is South TDF going on about, Citroen..... then low and behold two people yesterday asked me about my new Citroen in the work car park, and someone at Tescos today said, hmmmm, that's a different looking Citroen, I like that.

Must be the Polestar badge looks like a DS badge????

Does get a fair bit of attention, it is quite different, noticed people looking at it on the motorway. Only seen one other in Thunder on the roads around me, none on the motorway yet.

825 miles in 7 days, averaging 28.8kwh/100 miles, 650 of those are Motorway. About 3.5 miles per kWh. Very very happy. Interior rattles, not so happy. People are saying its a premium interior? Well, it feels nice, but it rattles like flies bouncing off a window pane,

Cornwall trip in 10 days, 235 miles each way, 95% motorway / dual carriage way, with 40 hours to charge on a 13A plug at the far end with Ionity Cullompton in the middle. Must get it upgraded to a 32A commando and a £200 charger from Octopus. I'm a sparky FFS, but I'll never get around to it.

I have a test drive booked in Milton Keynes for next week, but have a dilemma...

Assuming all goes well, the car will be bought / leased by my employer and due to my 'job level' my budget means I could either get the Long Range Dual Motor as standard or the long range single motor with Plus pack, but which would be the best choice?

There's a considerable drop in performance, and of course you lose AWD but will gain range and quite a bit of kit as below. TBH without the Pilot and plus packs the kit is pretty stark.

Interesting quandary. Going to be all about your priorities and usage.

Can you not get a fully loaded standard range car for the same price? Unless you are doing a lot of daily miles it's probably the best option.

If it helps, I have ordered the long range single motor with Pilot and Plus pack.

TBH, I could not really see the point of the dual motor. It’s plenty quick enough for me as it is. smile

I am due to take delivery of my Polestar 2 next week. It was ordered in February before they offered different specs. I ordered without the Performance pack. Will my car have the heat pump?

Unlikely, mine was a March order (arrived 2 weeks ago) - no heat pump. It's the original AWD 300kw Pilot Plus pack, not the new one.

You will like it though, its a brilliant daily drive. Control panel software a bit glitchy, and somethings things within it are in weird places and take some hunting down. Probably because I hate Android.

Otherwise, its very very good, extremely comfy, fast, and if you drive it sensibly, the range is exactly what it says on the dashboard. 260 miles is now normal, 80% motorway @ 70mph. Have driven it to 230 miles last week and still shown 8% in the tank. Did first Ionity stop, charged at 225mph if that makes sense. Think it said 85kwh and was getting faster, but I got bored of watching and went for a comfort break and a coffee. 15mins later, I'm gone. Even get a special 'no dings' parking space to charge at the services. Just works for me.

And for the EV detractors, nope, I'm still not bored of the morning drag race down the M5 slip road. Like the 'Big One' at Blackpool, every day. Its great.

If you do a lot of motorway miles, the Pilot pack with adaptive cruise really helps keep a lid on efficiency and therefore range. Set it to 70mph and let it do its thing. Easily getting 29kwh per 100miles or 3.5miles per kwh on the dual motor. Thats 1.5p a mile on Octopus. Company pays 4p.

I'd imagine you'll get a good 10-15% more on the single motor version.

I'm kind of thinking the same. I've managed so far without the performance and think I'd prefer the comfort of the packs. When in the office, I have a 1 hour motorway commute each way and regularly visit family in Cornwall.

I would say you have probably made the right choice. Mine is the launch spec so for £47k it came with everything (believe its about 53k now) however performance wise its very rare I can floor it for long and on a trip you will appreciate the extras more.

Very happy with the car however, I came into it from a Model 3 and have never looked back. If the M3 Performance was on our list I may have been tempted but again a LR it was a no brainer for me.

Thanks, that’s useful to know. We need to do a round trip of 200 miles once a week to visit family.

I was really impressed with them on our test drive last weeksmile colour is going to be thunder.

On a side note, the wife and I are both retired. We do quite a bit of walking usually around National Trust sites. I have noticed that the EV charge points there are free! We intend to make use of them!

210 miles today, including a few idiotic blasts of acceleration. 30 miles of town and A roads with a fair bit of traffic on the way home, and 180 miles at 65-70mph adaptive cruise control on the motorway. Averaged 61mph out, 57mph back.

Again, left showing 240 miles on 90% overnight charge (100% => 267 miles), pre-heated for 04:45. Got home showing 10% and 25 miles. 210 miles = 80%, 100% = 262miles. Incredibly consistent by my book.

Heated seats this morning, aircon at 18degs on the way home.

Very impressed especially after some of the 'less than positive' comments I'd read here and other forums. Its a 400bhp car FFS, never going to be as efficient as a 140bhp Zoe (my benchmark) right?

It won't last, we'll have a frost or two before the summer is out and I'll be lucky to get 100 miles out of it, and I'll be on the hard-shoulder or worse, end up being towed by an ICE'd van.

All I'm doing is using adaptive cruise for the motorway stretches, not hammering it along the outside lane tailgating anything doing under 80 (I used to do this, I've reformed) and its absolutely fine - as is a Tesla, ID3, ID4 etc etc.

I'm just trying to relay my real experiences, and I fully intend to do so periodically through the Autumn and Winter if it helps people / is of interest.
