To those about to order a Polestar 2, I thought I'd relay my experience.

Ordered a LRDM (no packs) in August 22.

Told Jan Delivery.

This then repeatedly slipped to Feb, then March, then June, then July and then August.

Polestar were completely dismissive to be queries as to the repeated delays, citing "production priotisation" as the reason. Not very customer friendly that.

It then kept slipping week by week to the point that I cancelled it.

It was actually a relief to cancel - I'd test driven one and wasn't very impressed at all, but wasn't able to order anything else comparable at the time.
Curious to know what new car you did order that wasn't affected by the logistical nightmare that nearly every car manufacturer is experiencing?

Customer service doesn't get much better once you get one TBH, I've been waiting four months for a heat pump bracket.

So far

Volvo contacted me saying your car needs a service - OK got it booked in, and asked if you can also look at the vibration and sound coming from the front of the car.

Turns out the car didn't need a service at all as it is every two years, not one (computer mess up) which was highlighted after they had serviced it, they also didn't look at the vibration fault saying the Polestar tech wasn't available, not sure who serviced it then....

Four weeks later the car went back to investigate the vibration, I had a car courtesy car booked, turned up and there wasn't one available, I also had to chase them to get the car picked up, but they did find the fault and booked the car in for four weeks time.

Called them the day before to make sure everything was OK for the following day, they hadn't ordered the part, so had to cancel and rebook again furious

The car should be going in next week to get sorted, we shall see.....

Is parts availability a problem for Polestar? Given the delays in delivery times I'm guessing it might be - mine arrived nine months later than it was supposed to.

I've had it since September and it's been great for the 9700 miles that I've done. First really long trip next week - 400 miles to glasgow and back in a day. Not looking forward to the adventure that will be trying to get a charge.

for balance:

placed my order 25/07/2022 - delivered 21/11/2022 (LRDM with pilot lite and plus packs, and 20" wheels)

Car has not put a foot wrong in the 5000 odd miles i've done since then - use it everyday for commuting a 60 mile round trip.

It never fails to put a smile on my face. Effortless mile muncher that'll turn into the hottest hatch as soon as you plant the throttle.

best car i've ever owned.

The Fastned chargers near hamilton are just outside Glasgow.

I've used them a few times and are the fastest I've come across.

Was considering a charge in Carlisle on the way up, and then another charge on the way back. I live near Selby so I think that will work well as I won't have run the charge anywhere near zero so if chargers were broken/not available I could look at somewhere else. Need 50kw+ though really as haven't got all day to hang around - not on the way there anyway.

Had an issue with mine yesterday, thought I'd ask if anyone else has had similar.

Pootling along a back road, wet roads. Feel a little unexpected slip from the front, assumed mud etc.

Half a mile later, front of car judders. Great, feels like a blow out. I pull over, have a look, tyres are fine?!

Get back in the car, pull away gently and gently brake, front brakes juddering badly. Stop again, have another look round the car, cant see anything obvious.

Get back in the car, put it in drive, press the accelerator, nothing. No error messages at all.

So as any good IT person would recommend, I got out, locked it, waited a little while and got back in.

All back to normal.

It was quite a violent juddering so I fully expected a flat tyre, I can only assume it is ABS related or a car brain fart. Drove fine this morning................

Tesla Model 3.

Delivery end of May/early June. So just over 2 months, versus 12.

Still waiting for our P2, ETA currently July. Does that mean we'll be getting a facelift model?

Mine is ETA August ordered mid December. LRDM + Pilot Lite

I also wondered how they would manage the last few orders for the older model and at the same time producing the facelift. It seems unlikely they would give us a car with so many changes and upgrades but you never know. My colleague ordered the old style 20" wheels and received the newer style with no warning.

In some respects I prefer the old grill, but the increased power and battery would not be unwelcome. But some features have moved to the options packs and vice versa, so would also lose a few things I think.

My understanding from various forums is production for the MY2024 cars is starting roughly in the middle of the year. Given it takes about a month for the cars to be shipped over to the U.K., Polestar are quoting deliveries of the MY24 from Q3 this year. Realistically, I’d expect that to be September.

I’d be very surprised if anyone got a MY24 instead of a previous model without Polestar asking for more money, as the new model is considerably more expensive.

Just placed an order through my work scheme for Polestar 2 LR DM with Pilot Pack. Anybody in the same boat and have an idea of what the lead time is like at the moment?

Anyone else had an issue using the 3 pin plug to charge? Tried mine for the first time over the weekend (3 different plugs in 2 different houses) and it didn't want to work. Had set the car at 13A to avoid tripping anything. Any ideas?

Yep, I have used mine for around a year (not very often TBF) then it started to trip the house.

The outcome was new consumer units fitted in the house and garage with the latest RCBOs, circuits split, new meter tails and the main earth upgraded.

£1200.00 later everything now works as it should.

The spark who came around said he is seeing more and more of this kind of thing as EVs are getting more popular, our house is 1960's and the last time the electrics were upgraded was probably 30 years ago.

I tested my charger at work, and it worked fine so it had to be something at home, I would try and test it somewhere where you know the electrics are good or up to date.

That all said it could just be broken hehe

Given your plug socket will be rated at 13amp max if the car was trying to pull more it would make sense that this caused tripping.

Thanks, not having tripping issues just not charging full stop. Been given some reset instructions from the support people so will try that and see if it changes anything. Unlikely to use the plug very often, I have an EV charger but my parents don't!

Does the charger light up at all? does the car see it?

You also don't need to adjust the amperage down to 13 amps, the car will pull the max it can from the charger even if the car is set to 32amps the charger will only supply 10 amps.

I think that adjustment is more for when you are at a campsite when the max power is 5amps etc.
