Looks cool - how does it work with a brand new car if you want to lease one? I assume you cant drop a deposit down like you're buying outright so do you just wait fro lease companies to start quoting figures?? or do you pay a deposit then do PCP via polestar at the time???

the £1000 deposit is refundable at any time...

I'm planning on using the Polestar "subscription" which is like EVEZY...an all-in monthly payment covering everything. But details haven't been announced yet

so do you pay the £1000 and then deal with that later or are you waiting for the details first?

The £1000 deposit is fully refundable before you finalise your order, and shows on your bank statement as "Care by Volvo". Orders will be finalised later this year once the price and specifications have been fully determined.

The correspondence I've been sent says the £1000 will be redeemed against the price of the car, whether that's on a lease/contract, or purchase.

Personally, I think I'm going to go down the lease/contract road for now, at least until the EV marketplace and technology stabilises in a few more years.

Cool - so it's not that paying the £1k means you have to buy the thing outright at the time. You can still PCP the way I normally would.

Yes. Think of it as reserving your space in the queue. You can always get the money back later if you change your mind.

I must say that that PCP figures on the Model 3 performance look tempting. If it was a hatchback, I might have buckled by now.

I hope the Polestar is competitive price-wise. It's never going to match 0-60 in 3.2s, and I can live with that, but I hope that it works out as affordable.

I'd be willing to bet that the launch edition cars won't be as would assume limited supply?

If you find the PCP numbers for the Model 3 tempting than I'd suggest taking a look at EVEZY. £599 for the SR+ or £799 for the Performance does look expensive, but when you take into account you get insurance, maintenance, charging (polar and tesla) and upto 15k per year mileage allowance included + a 1 month commitment then I think it compares very well?

To PCP a Model 3 P over 2 years (shortest commitment) with the same mileage would cost you £1000 a month. Even a 4 year deal costs £730.

Be very easy to swap for a P2 once available?

My lease V90 goes back in March next year, so I'll need something to bridge the gap, and I was planning on getting maybe an i3 through EVEzy before the Polestar.

I was speculating about the price of the Polestar more than anything. £50k is going to look expensive next to the £48.5k Performance Model 3, hatchback or no.

I'd say it'll probably justify itself with much better materials and build. The issue will be how the used market react I suppose as the badge doesn't have the recognition or fan basis that Tesla does with the general public.

Who know's, maybe EVEZY will add the P2 to their fleet?

So...

a very good looking car in my view, great stance on the 20s

not all that big inside...very high centre console, and a surprising transmission tunnel type thing meaning no leg room in the middle rear seat. I sat behind the drivers seat in the right position for me...6ft tall...it was fine

boot has a false floor with an odd shaped lower bit, useful hidden storage I suppose...boot big enough for a small dog but not that big...could you get a bike in with the seats folded...certainly, its quite shallow though

Frunk you might fit a sports bag, thats it.

sunroof is good but like ipace doesnt open

general fit and finish was excellent

the google thing appeared to work perfectly as demo'd to me...basically the same as a google home speaker..voice commands for most things. and will allegedly work fine with iphone...bloke said hes not meant to say, but you will be able to download Apple Carplay if thats what you prefer

dash a less good version of Audi virtual cockpit. I dont have an EV so dont know is this common, but the maps shows you not only the nearest charger, but live time is it occupied or not...seemed pretty useful!

I like the Thunder grey which is what i've ordered and shown above

biggest news as told to me this afternoon...the subscription plan will be £699 all in. Thats for the £55k model.

But I think you have to sign up for a 2 or 3 year term. So thats £100 pcm less than Evezy for a Model 3 performance.... so depends how you price the optionality of no minimum term...

my view which is personal, I massively prefer the Polestar in design, finish and quality plus having a hatchback

same Polestar rep said June 2020 OTR in UK. They are taking bookings for testdrives

Thanks for the information. Looks amazing.

The "transmission tunnel" in the rear is to accommodate the battery which has an unusual shape. It's designed so it doesn't intrude into the rear passenger footwells.

That's pretty strong price for a small car, so AWD Model 3 performance for more than Performance Model 3 money, infact close to prereg iPace money!!

I wonder how Jag will price their XJ EV, I know its in a different price point all together- £70k+?? but if/when Jag gets desperate PCP deals will be good. Cannot see Volvo doing as much discounts as Jag.

Plenty of choice for good EVs coming smile.

Yeah, I mean what do you get for "all in"? Maintenance is low on EVs anyway. Maybe if it included insurance it would be close to decent for some people.

The price is likely to be about £50k including incentives which is pretty much the same price as the Performance Model 3. There's no way the Polestar 2 is going to match the PM3 for acceleration. I think the sacrifice will be worth it for a more premium quality build and features like matrix lights and Harman Kardon sound.

If it's £700 per month including tax, insurance, tyres, maintenance, and access to public charging, I think that's acceptable and broadly in line with what I expected.

Agree that would be an absolute max including the performance option pack. Anymore and I probably wouldn’t go ahead.

Access to public charging? Are they going to do multiple deals with various networks?
