I have the tesla wall charger (can do up to 1kw on the 3 , 7kw on single phase) still in its box because the 8amp 2kw portable one is fine so far.

I have a 7kw charger at home for my ipace, the 220 miles i get are fine for day to day, but this is the game changer for me if i want to do a long journey next year and in the coming years it's going to make such a difference, others will have to follow suit.

Looking at their map there’s not much coverage. The nearest charging point is a long way from me.

They've only just started their major UK roll out, 100kwh charging, infrastructure is getting there.

Plenty of fast chargers being rolled out, soon Tesla won't have this monopoly of infrastructure and it will make it a lot easier to do long journeys.

Even looking at the BP site I’m not seeing enough charging points though as you say they’re being rolled out.

Just beware new Ionity cost of 350KW charging which is coming. At 2 miles per kWh on an iPace after charging losses/travelling at 70mph, your potential cost per mile for fuel is around 50p per mile, or the same as 10mpg!

That is a lot!! Currently £8 per charge in the UK for 150kw (only get 100kw on ipace).
