COD modern warfare
Discussion
Tried it and.... nope nope and more nope. Just felt like a complete backwards step from Battlefield. I appreciate some may prefer the whole "he who presses the trigger first gets the win" but having such a quick time to kill alongside appalling targeting meaning you get a hit if you're aiming vaguely in the right place.... not for me!
Good:
Not sure where my bulletpoints went. Oh well, fk it.
- Guns sound and feel really nice
- Realistic and varied recoil patterns so the guns don't all feel like laser pointers
- Map designs are much better, more verticality and less "3 corridor" design that has plagued COD for years
- Time to kill is very short, but this is also bad when you're on a longer ping
- Visual style and lighting looks very nice
- Spawning in front of enemies
- Still as connection dependent as ever. If you've got good ping in a match, you're golden. If you're on the longer side of the ping, then you're fked, TTK being so short if you don't land the first shot in a fight you'll lose the engagement
- Kill streaks run out of control, the winning team just snowballs their lead. Very few close games, lots of blowout landslide victories or crushing defeats
- The framerate in the big ground war mode is awful when there is a lot of action on screen, I'm using an Xbox One X and the frame drops were poor
Not sure where my bulletpoints went. Oh well, fk it.

Played it all weekend. Loved it.
Spawns where terrible. You either spawned in front of the enemy team or vice versa.
Cruise missle takes to long.
Air strike is a pain the in arse to use.
Chooper gunner is pretty cool.
Everyone uses claymores, MP5s and .50GS
Kill streaks ruin objective game modes, should be point streaks.
Few bugs but it's beta.
32 V 32 is fun but total chaos and the mini map is pretty useless on this mode as it's just a clusterfk of dots.
Maps are awesome especially Hackney Yard.
News in today is that SpecOps survival mode is only on the PS, next year it comes to other platforms. Loot boxes will contain DLC guns (Pay to win basically).
Still got my pre-order in

Bullet points don't display for some reason, but show in a full browser on a PC.
I really enjoyed the beta. That said I only ever play team deathmatch. I've been playing COD online since MW3 and don't really enjoy any other modes as much.
It's much more like the older COD games. The maps seem good. Camping still exists it is not as prevalent as previous games. That may change with more maps and once people learn the spots more. The guns and gunsmith system is really enjoyable. I'll buy it and enjoy many years of play. I still play Ghosts online most weeks on my old PS3 system but I've not been off the PS4 since the beta came out. (Still prefer the old small controller but I'm getting used to the PS4 one a bit more).
Looking forward to some fun sessions over Christmas with my oldest.

Is this mostly online or is there a single player campaign mode that lasts more than 10 hours (the last COD game I bought I'd completed the campaign in 10 hours and felt thoroughly seen-off).
It has a campaign but to the best of my knowledge no one knows how long it would take to complete. My expectation would be the same as all other CoDs at 10 hours max. A difference with this compared to the last few CoDs is the return of Special Ops, which i understand has a single player offline element. A bit of YouTubing would reveal more in accordance with the steady drip of information coming out about the game.Safe to say the bulk of the game will be pointed at online multiplayer. If you're concerned about a lack of single player content then all i can suggest is waiting until after launch when the length and quality of the campaign will be known, alongside full details on the Spec Ops side.
