The latest software update apparently unlocks 8% more of the battery.

I had a test drive in an iPace on Monday. The car had been fully charged outside and the temperature was around 3c, it was showing a range of 250 miles.

I really fancy one of these but some of the comments on this thread are giving me second thoughts.

All I can tell you is my car is currently on 54 miles range which is 43%.

I am going to run it down to about 30% and then fully charge it again and see if it improves but I highly doubt it.

Its not a major problem as we don't do much mileage but if I had paid for it out of my own cold hard money (its a lease) then it would be going straight back to Jaguar and I would be asking for a full refund.

Check your energy consumption figures. You should be doing about 70 kwh / 100 miles, which is very high. If you are doing more like 40 - 50 kwh / 100 miles then you must have a battery issue.

I’m also a bit concerned that it would seem that the range drastically reduces at motorway speeds. I generally cruise at around 75mph, is likely to be a problem?

I do mean in terms of range, I’m very well aware of the speed limit. wink

So my basic maths translates that too

37.7 kw/100mi
53.7 kw/100mi
42.3 kw/100mi
41.3 kw/100mi

That's similar to mine ( mine probably slightly worse ) - there must be something wrong with the range projection .

say 2.3 mi/kwh times 90 kwh = 207 miles ( reduced by actual battery allowed , don't know )

Depends what range you want/need .
.... my motorway speed has dropped by about 25 mph if I use the Jag . Around 65mph seems to give 1 mile travelled per 1 miles of range " prediction " from my experience .

Less than 150 miles range then

(at 0C Jaguar website gives 149 miles at 57mph!)

It’s a shame as I like the car very much but cruising at 65 on a motorway would be frustrating for me. frown

Have you guys had the update done? It improves the range by around 8% according to these guys:- https://www.ipaceforums.co.uk/

Actually I find cruising at 65mph quite a change ... fortunately I don't have to do it very often smile. In fact quite often I'll take the a roads instead , enjoy the drive and as the average speed is lower and the range better .

The Tesla is better at higher speeds. That's where aerodynamics really pay off. The iPace isn't very efficient.

8% more battery though will give about 20 miles more range which is great.

I assume the update is dealer only rather than OTA?

Any idea how long it takes?

Decided to test it and take it as near to empty as i could from the ‘201’ bug range

Got it down to 5 mile range, achieved 180 miles on the trip meter so thats pretty much 185 miles achieved on a full battery, always cruise at 112 kmh, little to no traffic where i live and temps have been 0-8°

I wont be getting update done, too much of n arse where i am and i never seem to need more than it offers tbh.

I got 2.6miles/kwh which equates to about 225, some of it on the M5, which is pretty good, was getting 2.4 on the cold mornings recently, that's without the increased range from the new update that's just been released.

I’ve downloaded the Go I-Pace app to carry for the next few days to see how my journeys would have worked out with an I Pace. Over the weekends it’ll be about 30-40 miles a day on rural roads which should be ok. The real test will come on Monday when I’ll be making a 110 mile round trip to London using dual carriageways and the M11 so motorway speeds.
