Exactly, and 100% of all that revenue goes directly to Tesla with no middleman taking a cut!

Another way to ask that question may be why do adult owners of theses cars like them?

As I pulled into the drive today after taking my daughter swimming she fell asleep, my wife was still out finishing her xMas shopping. Rather than risk moving/waking up a tired toddler, I pressed the 'Music' profile on the car's seat memory setting, and proceeded to enjoy chilling to some tunes whilst sitting in a lovely, heated reclined seat, whilst enjoying a lovely panoramic view of outside world with the interior temp set to 23 degrees and a sound system not far off Hi-Fi quality, all without the rattle of an idling combustion engine.

When my wife arrived she realised she didn't have everything so we than pop back to the shops, in total I think I probably spent a good 90 minutes in the car even though we only drove about 10 miles, the tech just works and these cars are simply really nice places to spend time in, which ultimately is why virtually every single owner survey show amazing customer loyalty to the brand despite the numerous issues reported with reliability/service centre issues etc.

What ever you think of the Tesla brand, the customer loyalty they have is second to none, as much as I wish Musk would stop acting like a con man, and Tesla start building cars that don't fall apart as soon they leave the factory, I cannot see us buying another brand any time soon.

Sadly thats far from unique to tesla, established players with infinitely more experience still make a of it. Had a new mercedes and 2 new vag products that have had ridiculously poor build quality and niggly faults from low quality parts, and one of my customers had a mclaren demonstrator with all the exterior lights steamed up and shoddy fit and finish on lots of bits of trim. He wasn't impressed.
Toyotas hybrids have a lot more faults than their ICE vehicles so I would be inclined to give Tesla a bit of wiggle room on that front, they are constantly redesigning parts to address the problems, I'm sure they will get the hang of it.

This, I sat in my car for an hour waiting for someone. It’s heated, I have Netflix, usb charging, heated seats.

The heating of the cabin without the engine is a real bonus

Teslas havent come down into my price range yet, but this winter my heated seats and eberspecher have been my favourite extras in my van, I didnt anticipate just how good it would be to turn the heater on from my bed so its toasty and defrosted on leaving for work, or to call the van from a cherrypicker where I cant feel my fingers anymore and have somewhere warm to retreat to.
Roll on the older models depreciating to the point where I can justify a salvage model s, cant wait to tinker with one, I love fixing electrical faults.

Dragging this thread back on topic.... Uber being threatened with a ban in Germany.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-50865154

..and off topic... we had Eberspachers to keep our place warm for a few years, still have fond memories of the noise when those things started up and blasted us with hot air.

The thing with the great loyalty for Teslas from their core group is that they're operating with huge debt and massively over-valued stock for their current scale. You can have people who absolutely swear by the cars you make, but it doesn't translate to long term growth (*cough* Lotus *cough*).

I asked our kid what he thought of Tesla (15 year old boy). "The new one is really dumb" was his answer, followed with "cars are just cars..".

People do seem to be buying them though, see loads around Glasgow now. I dont see anything else that compares in the imminent future, the mainstream manufacturers upcoming offerings all seem to comprimise somewhere.
Didnt save saab though.

How do you feel about the upcoming monthly charge for premium data?

As without it your Netflix and everything other connected thing bar sat nav will stop working I think (unless you ordered before June 2018).

I don't see many on the road, relatively speaking, growing number turning up on driveways in the neighborhood though. Not sure if they are base version or Long range though (ones I see all have the aero wheels which I think come on both)

The premium audio in the Model 3 is very impressive. I've had a few cars over the years with pricey upgraded Bose, B&W and B&O systems and it's a match for any of them.

Also works a treat when watching Netflix. smile

My wife was never one for turning the music up, in the Model S she has it LOUD. I have a good Wharfedale setup in the living room, but our Tesla is without a doubt the best place to listen to music in the house.

Yes your free data ceases from Tesla (nav etc still fine and obv software updates) but all you do is set it up to use the phone hotspot. Most data plans are fine for a bit of Spotify these days. I already pay for 6gb for £10/month and don’t even dent it. With Spotify I use about a third of that. Netflix would be a bit more but other than the odd monthly wait I don’t think I would use. If at a supercharger I just connect to local Wi-Fi.

I feel like I should just tether the car to my phone and hammer my unlimited phone data plan (includes tethering).

I believe with the M3 LR/P you get the premium connectivity for a year? Having only had the car for a fortnight not a concern for a while but will happily pay £10 a month when required for unlimited access and not having to mess with my phone.

Who's buying a £40k+ car and worrying about £10 a month?

For £10 a month you can probably get some sort of mifi instead surely?

Ive never been impressed with the speed and performance of the onboard internet connectivity.

Looks like Tesla are on track to hit guidance, just about. 106k ish forecasted for Q4, which scrapes in at lower end of guidance, 361k for the year.

So one less promise broken, raising the average very slightly. Looking forward to seeing what FSD 'sneak peak' looks like. Better not be another timelapse vid!

I've found it really good personally, no issues with buffering on Netlfix or YT and hardly any drop outs on Spotify whilst on the move either.

You aren't going to get unlimited data on a mi-fi or phone for £10 a month as far as I am aware.

You could get a limited plan and see how much data it uses.

I watched some action movies in my car. I’d say it’s a terrific experience like being in a cinema.
