Prompted by the leasing thread and with all the offers flying around on these at the moment, thought this may be a decent place to discuss, especially for those new to EV like myself.

Thanks to rich12 who initially posted up the offer by Express vehicle contracts, mine was a N-Connecta, £248p/m on a 1+23 with 8,000 miles pa. I worked through the figures and it was a no brainer to get rid of my old Subaru and into a new Leaf - move over Greta, I got this wink

With no deposit and such a short lease that is really remarkable value.

I guess it needs to be cheap though given that it is, by all accounts, thoroughly out-classed by even the MG ZS.

What's the lead time like?

I've got a factory order from Willow, in red 1+23 10k @ £303 for the Tekna

I think the range will be fine for the commute stuff, but 120 miles is pretty restrictive for longer journeys

Any recommendations for a home charger?

It does seem to be a bit low tech battery wise compared to the newer stuff, and no digital dash makes it look a bit old skool

But for a 2 year deal, at relatively low cost it should be a good option, most of our miles are a 15 mile each way commute and then kids activities in the locality and a 40 mile round trip a couple of times a week

I wouldn't personally buy one now, I think that the new VWs will be a much better option, but the downside of leasing is that you need to change car when the current lease goes back!

Hopefully tech will have moved on significantly when this one is up

Thanks for starting this thread.
I've ordered a n-connect via my limited company and will be replacing our current 24kwh leaf.

Pretty similar to my thoughts. Given the rate of EV development, these 40Kwh versions are going to be pretty old tech in 2 years time so I don't fancy owning one, certainly not at £27k to £28k new.

Ours will taking over kids duties and a commute of 10 miles each way a few times a week. Luckily my workplace has free charging which is a bonus. We'll be keeping a diesel Honda CRV for longer journeys and dog duties but I can see that being used less and less.

In terms of the home charger I'm going to see how it goes topping it up every other day via the standard socket first before investing in anything else. Does the Leaf have an inbuilt timer so you can programme the charge to take advantage of lower overnight tariff rates?

Which have you decided to go for? Smiths seems the cheapest so far?

I was pretty quick to act on these deals, having collected my car last week on the 21st, a week after enquiring after seeing the Yes-Lease deals on HUKD. Its not quite as good as some deals but still decent.

Its from Marshall Nissan in Lincoln, direct with Nissan finance.

In stock Leaf 40 N-Connecta
Solid white
1+23
6k pa (8ppm excess)
£300 'admin fee'
Servicing included (£4 something a month extra so better than paying the £159 after a year)
£270.10 / month
Total cost: £6782.40

2 year price for 10k pa for comparison = £7512.40.

Literally just gone for the Tekna from Smiths on 15k with servicing.
Gun Metal .

It was about £1k more than the N-Connecta but has the LED lights and ProPilot so won't feel like such a downgrade from my V90.

I spent ages formatting this but when you post it, the formatting disappears!

Best deal for me was :
Smiths (metallic paint ) including servicing 15k per year mileage: (1+ 23) £347.58 Total: 8341.92

The N-Connecta deals with Willow Leasing and Express Vehicle Contracts were significantly cheaper but don't come with the ProPilot Driver assitance, or the LED lights , Electronic Parking Brake and BOSE Sound System.

I ordered one of the deals from Express Vehicle.
£193.80 a month on a 9+23 for 10,000 miles.
N-Connecta in White.

It is going to be a second car for us to use alongside my BMW X3 M40i so its a bit of Ying/Yang for the planet with my motroing.
Went to have a look at it yesterday at the garage in Sunderland and I was actually quite impressed, yes the tech is a bit low rent but for a second car it will be ideal cheap motoring for a couple of years to see where EV's go. I will then look to trade the BM in for something different.

I used to have a X5 40e hybrid so have the charger already, I liked the thought of Electric driving so it will be interesting to see if it works out the way I think it will.

When you consider you'll be handing that back with at least 30k on the clock and the fuel savings involved that represents some pretty decent value motoring

I never understand electric cars coming without LED lights. Surely LED's are best suited to these cars purely because of the lower usage?

Thankfully I think my misses will have this car and i'll have hers so i'm sure she won't mind not having LED's when driving 4 miles to pick my son up from school.

The amount of electricity drawn by a car's lights is pretty insignificant.

Try telling that to people who leave their lights on and the battery dies laugh

The very fact that you can run a car's lights from a tiny lead acid accumulator for a few hours shows how insignificant they are to an EV.

Where are you guys getting your home chargers installed from?
The two I have narrowed down to are Pod Point and Chargemaster.

I am planning to move home within a year and Pod Point will charge £550 to relocate a charger.

I'm not sure about Chargemaster.

I'm also thinking a tethered charge point as the LEAF is type 2 , can't be bothered to plug the cable in every time!
