Really like these, somewhat hamstrung by limiting speed so that it can be driven by 16 year olds in France isn't it? Great bit of design though
The speed is mainly to do with getting it registered as a quadricycle rather than a car. That way they don't need to go through crash safety and pedestrian impact etc.I dont think citroen could make this any faster unless they went through the "low volume production" route like Morgan do, but then they would never do that as there's not enough product turnover. Even that includes a crash test though, although its a single test thats not as expensive or as thorough as full approval.

I love how polarising this is.
It is a clever design and it should be the future of city motoring. Cheap, clean, effective and small for urban driving, what is not to like?
If they do ever impose an SUV tax to stop them being so popular, then they should equally incentives things like these.

I echo the above and like the concept. Cheap transport. What’s the range? It really doesn’t fit my usage model but if I needed to zip about an urban environment with no commute it would work and be sufficient.
Im a bit of a snob and won’t do public transport other than aircraft so would rather this.
Citroen should be applauded for this.

there's the autocar article with photos of the actual car rather than the show concept.
There's loads already trundling about in France if you care to youtube for some French reviews etc.

Indeed, and here is one careening through Paris in a YouTube user review (with English subtitles):

Thanks, I hadn't seen that one. Unfortunately it doesnt suit our requirements, although I'm half tempted to get one for a laugh as they look like right fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqH6MmA4PJI
I'm disappointed that the Mods have moved this to "EV and alternative fuels". Whilst technically the thread was originally about an EV, the discussion was more about urban and city transport and innovative automotive design - not just another ESUV.
If the same approach was taken to all threads then there would be very little in "general gassing"

Another market that has occurred to me is the older folk.
Loads of older people out there who can technically still drive and might have a yaris or a KA or something that can hurtle down the motorway at 90mph and kill multiple people at a time. I'm not saying that older drivers are bad, but some deteriorate over time and the family remove all access to personal transport as they don't think its as safe.
For €6k, they can buy one of these and have a degree of freedom back, with the family safe in the knowledge that they're limited on speed and range, but the individual can still go to the shops and people about town. I know you can still do a lot of damage at 28mph, but its much less.

Isn't it amazing how in major European cities like Paris and Rome, cars like this will be adopted quickly and used everywhere yet we are terribly standoffish about anything that may affect our status in the eyes of others. Totally different car cultures!
I've noticed the culture is very much different in Italy too. We're such badge snobs here!I love the idea of the Ami for intra-city and urban driving, especially in London where so much of the roads are 20mph limited. Unfortunately a lot of my driving is rural and motorway to get to the towns and cities.
