I am struggling to get more than 2 years out of the above product on my SW facing windows - very exposed location on the Fylde coast. I am tempted to change to a different product, does anyone have any recommendations?

I don't have any experience of your specific product but sadolin make fantastic products. Have you tried to call their technical helpline to get some feedback... If root cause is unsuitable preparation/material etc then moving to another product won't necessarily solve it..

I have found it very good, the other option is Teknos paint but as has been said preparation is key.

What exactly is happening to it?

We’ve recently had our exterior woodwork painted and one of the quotes was using Superdec.

The other two painters when I mentioned it were not too keen on it and the when I asked the local paint suppliers what he thought, he seemed reticent to praise it.

I’ve used other Sadolin products in the past and they were/are fine.

I think the paint is quite thin and tend to put on 3 layers. Before the 1st layer I lightly sand the wood. It soaks in well, but now wonder if I go for a paint that does not soak in so much.

Sadolin was once a top quality product, but it’s been overtaken by others and is generally poor (water based).

Sikkens - whether you use water based or oil, is vastly superior externally.
But, if the Superdec has failed it will all need removing prior to applying anything else, and being water based that isn’t so straight forward.

But, it sounds like your location could give anything a hard time!

Owatrol brand - damned expensive but have been transformational for us versus all the other usual products.

Unfortunately 8 year protection is only guaranteed for bare wood. If you are painting over old products is only as good as what its been applied too.
