llllll

Found outside the garage where I park my Z35is (2016).
Any ideas if it's off the car?
And where it should be?

It is a retaining screw for rear disc to hub. See item 7 below. Part number is likely to be 34211161806. go to RealOEM.com

Although the wheel bolts retain the disc ultimately, this helps as a locater.

Further, I would imagine it is only used to hold the disc to the hub at the sub-assembly level. Once on the final-line, the wheel fixing bolts hold the wheel and disc to the hub. Jack the car up remove the wheel and replace that screw you have shown. It could be either side. It could also be front brakes as well, one-in-four chance. Which wheel did you last take off, and which disc have you taken off?

I’ve never seen a bolt with that finish on fitted to any BMW. Certainly not a disc retaining bolt. More likely it’s fallen off a delivery van.

My first thought was disk retaining bolt, but how that would come off with the wheel on I don’t get

Looking at the realOEM photo, (below) in close up, it does seem different.

It's not that BMW disc retaining bolt, the design is clearly different. Shoulder looks too long for a disc retaining bolt as well, at least one from a car.

I suspect this is the best explanation, as it's got a bright finish it won't be a disk part imho.

It does have that sort of look about it.

I have just been checking over my newly-acquired (freebie) bicycle. I can’t see anything like that. I stick things like that in a spare hardware box - occasionally they come in handy.
