No, not at all. Hence the suggestion of the Volvo XC90 Recharge.

One consideration is 'image' though. It's the usual company car balance where it needs to look and present well to support the quality and ethical values (why we're looking at a change to EV/Hybrid), whilst not looking too flash. A big spanking BMW X5 in full Chelsea Tractor spec covered in toys with bling alloys wouldn't work, the current Discovery however works on every level. Its a difficult and largely subjective metric, but one we can't afford to get wrong.

Surprising given that they attract a certain "type"

I'd say the Defender 110 P400e is the best option for you. Classy, comfy, exceptional off road and on road ability, combined with great PHEV drivetrain.

I think you're right, certainly the front runner for initial investigations although I will do a comparison against the XC90 Recharge. Cheers thumbup

One thing for sure, the Defender will be considerably more expensive to lease over a 2 year 20k mile agreement. The base S P400e is £1200 a month before adding the VAT based on what I've just seen, which is almost double the price for a mid range XC90 T8 Recharge with 7 seats.

I like the Defender but that's bonkers money? The top of the line X model is £1500 a month before the VAT. eek

Also interested in what options exist to replace my current 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK.

Are any EVs with a 3500kg towing capacity available for under £3k - and >400 mile range, towing near that limit?

You can manage 400+ miles whilst towing 3500KG? How big is the fuel tank on that thing?

20 gallons @ 20mpg - not very eco-friendly :-(
