So, seems like the press is out on this car:

Huge, good looking and massively expensive smile.
I do like that EV's seem to get us away (a bit) from the inevitable SUV's. I know there's plenty, but it still feels like the regular sedan gets some love.

I wonder how much time 'till we see the likes of Audi take the fight to the Model 3 with a more middle-of-the-range EV. Now it seems mostly at both ends of the spectrum: Go all out (E-tron, Taycan) or keep it as affordable as possible (ID3, Up!,...)

Ordering goes live tomorrow and will get a copy of the specifications / options then. Going to be swapping my 55 e tron for a GT RS. Available in May apparently. Thinking of going bold on the colour, the standard colours look a bit boring!

Why would anyone want this instead of a Taycan at this kind of money!? Makes no sense to me...

Plenty seem to prefer the looks, and I'd be willing to guarantee it'll be better equipped for the money.

I'd still take the Taycan personally but each to their own.

Just priced one up to as close as I could find acceptable, only option is a black interior - and the usual limited range of trims and options. 134k.

I can't even think of the words to make that sound sensible.

Out of interest how much would a similarly equipped RS7 list for?

And what options are you adding as that's almost an additional £25k on an already well equipped car?

20k less, but then you'll get another 15k off with no difficulty I'd wager. Regardless, they don't sell many anyway.

With the same spec?

Well, I'm adding the 950 for metallic paint, which isn't included on in the 132 list price, and as I want a colour that isn't "tactical vomit" I'd realistically get a special paint for 4k.

My version of well equipped might not be yours. Either way, this pricing is extreme for an Audi.

Ffs. Rs7 vorsprung Council edition 115k, e tron gt vorsprung money laundering edition 133k.

I don't know if you are trying to make a point or just too lazy to do your own research.

I will concede they aren't quite the same spec, one has a fuel tank.

Just like you to compare orange with oranges rather than the hyperbole you've posted so far. Adding £25k of options to one and not the other doesn't help anyone.

Base RS7 with B&O + panoramic roof is £100k list. £110K for the base RS Etron that includes those options as standard.

It's not hyperbole.

The RS7 vorsprung is 115k
The RS e tron gt vorsprung is 133k. The only option I added was.....metallic paint, to get to my 134k figure.

I'm not sure how you think I could have made your requested comparison more comparable.

The issue with comparing Vorsprung models is they are very differently equipped. The Etron gets carbon everywhere, including brakes and roof, and massage seats etc. Base models far closer in spec and price.

Will be interesting to see finance costs as the base RS7 is already more expensive to lease than the Taycan Turbo despite a significantly lower list price. (£96k v £116k) and can only imagine the RS ETron will undercut both. I expect very few people are paying cash for these things?

You get 8k more miles over the term in the Taycan with the example above also.

It’s better looking, has a nicer interior, more space, and seems to have been designed more for what I use a car for.

I cancelled my Taycan orders to get one of these instead, but I’m going to wait a few months in case of gremlins / explosions / changing my mind.

Looks and interior entirely subjective of course but more space? I thought they were essentially identical once you get past the styling?

I you really want more space/practicality might be worth waiting for the Taycan SportTurismo?

They chose to call those equipment levels the same trim name.

Annoyingly, I would not buy another 100k+ car without 'luxury features' e.g. massage seats and acoustic glazing, if they are optionable - it seems like they only are on the vorsprung.

However, then you lose all of the seat and trim options - as I would pick the tan and walnut from the boggo RS, and whilst I would want some carbon, I wouldn't want the blacked out Audi rings. None of the trim levels work for me.

The Taycan is far more customisable, but, as ever with Porsche, a Turbo with the right options (for me) comes out about 140k and even then you need to remember to pay £230 for folding wing mirrors. That monthly will increase pretty quickly once you delve into the list.
