If the ModelX is too big then wait for the ModelY or the Mustang SUV.
Tesla say 2022 for the Y in Europe, but it may come sooner to the UK because we're RHD and they are making those elsewhere.
Model X, I need a good look around one, but is probably the most likely if I had to choose a vehicle Today. Although a bit bigger than we need...Tesla say 2022 for the Y in Europe, but it may come sooner to the UK because we're RHD and they are making those elsewhere.
Mustang - interested in the GT model coming later in the year, will investigate with Ford.
Model Y - need to look into more, dont really know much about it.

Well, you did ask you ungrateful bugger.I think the perfect car would be a EV Macan... Macan with the Taycan Turbo Guts and some more range would be lovely!

If you're looking for a model X, I was looking at one recently, dreamlease.co.uk have the last one available in the UK until 2022, unfortunately the Model X is on such a long lead time this was the only one available. It might be worth speaking to them if you're after one through your business? Mustang - interested in the GT model coming later in the year, will investigate with Ford.

I can’t see that anyone has mentioned the Merc EQC. Got ours in September and love it.
Range, from our useage, mostly fast B roads and town driving, is 240 summer and 160 winter, (which seems to be a consistent drop across most EV’s)
If you want to check infrastructure then zap map is pretty good too
Range is the issue. It came last in the CarWoW range test being beaten by both the E-Tron and iPace (194 v 206 v 223)Range, from our useage, mostly fast B roads and town driving, is 240 summer and 160 winter, (which seems to be a consistent drop across most EV’s)

Nice car though if that's not a priority.

keen to know if any of the above options being mooted have a towbar optioned? And 2.5Te ish towing capacity.
(Nag dragger)
Model X can do 2250KG, the rest are max 1600-1800KG (EQC/ETron) I believe. iX3 manages a pathetic 750Kg vs 2500KG in diesel form.(Nag dragger)

Cheap and large EV don't really go together
Unless you really know what you're getting into with EV then why not the X5 Hybrid? Half decent EV range for local stuff and not horrendous as a company car.
If you do want cheap and you can buy used into a company car scheme, you're next best bet is a 2 year old Model X although it won't do 250 miles in winter. If you're resigned to charging on the odd 250 mile trip then the ipace which has a shorter range but the owners seem to love them as much as Tesla owners do.

If you want a real-world 250 mile range in poor conditions, it's pretty much Tesla, Tesla or Tesla at the moment in that market sector. The iPace gets pretty close, but it wont do 250 miles at motorway speeds in freezing weather; if you're happy with having to drive a bit slower in really cold weather to achieve that range it's probably worthy of consideration.
Other options... The Rivian R1S looks like it would fit the bill. I think it's meant to be out later this year, although models from new companies always have to be taken with a certain degree of scepticism until they actually appear. The Model-Y might do it, or it might be a bit small. Not sure about the Mustang Mach-E, but again I think it should be this year.
ETA: There's the BMW iX3 due pretty soon, too, although it might be marginal on range.
In 18 months time this market will be flooded with cars, but right now there's not really much choice.
I’ve been getting 250 miles range from my I-pace since it arrived mid December. Been pretty cold in Yorkshire too since Christmas! It’s a super vehicle.Other options... What is going on at BMW they are looking worse and worse Hyundai Ionqi 5 if you can still order one?
Unless you enjoy unreliable cars don't touch a X.
Ours is currently sitting on the driveway waiting for a ranger visit to sort out the passenger side window thats gone kaput - its a frameless door, so if the window doesn't drop you cannot open the door, not entirely convenient not been able to open the passenger side door on a family car.
These things aren't worth anything close to the money Tesla wants for them. However half a decade on from initial launch there still isn't another car I've come across that gives you so much drama for even the most mundane trips, certainly nothing that comes close interms of utility as a family wagon.
If you took away our X today, like an idiot I would on balance probably buy another despite the rip off pricing and British Leyland build quality. I would probably also even stick to the same exact spec and colour, I absolutely hate and love the thing all at the same time.

I'm sure it's possible if you keep your speed down, yeah. But at the constant 80ish many people who want a long range tend to drive at, I don't believe it's possible? kambites said:

I think an electric version of the XC90 is due some time this year. If Hybrid is an option the current one does 30ish miles on electric which gives you a reasonable amount of economical local running but not issues with range anxiety.

Quite he is only person in the world getting 250 miles out of an Ipace and why is is he driving 250 miles ?
I-pace is so inefficient that it's pretty poor for long trips, despite the claimed range. Bjorn liked it despite that.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHpLfBimRis
