Surprised just how wide this car is. 2.045 m with mirrors Guess they have to pack the batteries in but not much chance of it going in a garage.

It's only 2cm wider than a Golf. Not small, but hardly a behemoth.

VW spec sheet gives latest Golf width as 1790 - 1799 mm, excl mirrors, so the difference is 9 or10 cm, comparing like for like.
The difference is less across the mirrors.

I had a look over one of these at Goodwood last week. Up close it does seem bigger than expected, maybe because the proportions make it look like a typical medium hatchback from a distance. Inside is spacious. As someone said earlier, the boot is surprisingly shallow with a very high floor: fit pooches only!!

Anyone had an insurance quote for an Ioniq 5? The quotes I'm getting are insane!

Currently got Volvo V90 - pay £470
Got quote for Kia Sorento - £510
Ioniq 5 - £3,600 !!!!

That's from 3 different comparison sites - all i'm doing is changing the car! Direct line wont quote

Try LV they're doing EV specific policies, was cheapest for me.

Also given it's a very new car, on a new platform they may not have much risk data.

I just put my basic details into confused. com and got a quote of 332 for the most powerful Premium model.

My current 335d was 276 with LV. Yes, I'm an oldie.

Thanks for advice: LV, Direct Line, Churchill don't have Ioniq5 listed yet. I'll keep searching. Got £800 from Aviva.

Very disappointed with the #Hyundai #Ionic5, poor ride, rattles from the interior, speed display is hidden in the blind spot on low-resolution 80s style screens. Terrible service from Bristol Street dealership in Nottingham as well. AVOID

Lucky it wasn’t a Tesla then.

During my test drive had no issues with ride quality, any rattles, and never noticed the speed being blocked, I would not say the screens were low res or 80's style.

Have heard bad things about Bristol Street motors in general so would not have gone with them regardless of the brand being sold.

I collected my IONIQ 5 yesterday after much research and waiting. I’m surprised there aren’t more threads on here about it, everyone on the web (and me) thinks it’s a great EV.

I managed to bag an AWD and it is quite spritely and all things considered, a superb piece of kit.

I looked at the Ev6 and preferred the I5, except for the door handles not presenting themselves when you unlock the car. That is a design fail IMO but everything else is excellent, including the looks. It turns heads, which is more than can be said for a lot of cars in this bracket. Interior space is limo-like, too.

Lots of posts 8 months ago when it came out, I detailed my entire journey. I’m sure it’s a great piece of technology but the crap materials and soulless “feel” made me get rid (and I had poppy door handles and a 240v socket).
I was interested in the Genesis version until the £73k price was stuck on it - that’s a lot.
Still it’s the only car I made a nett profit on inc 6 months running costs.

Good choice. I went with the EV6, but there's not a lot in it.

Ours has been on order for ~6 months. Might see it in 2022, who knows?

Seen quite a few of these around in South Wales, looking quite popular. Don't think I'd stretch to one myself, but can see the attraction.

Anyone had any experience with the poor rapid charge rates from cold? Has that been fixed now?

You'll probably have to quantify "poor" - it's certainly not any sort of problem on the EV6, and no better or worse than any other EV in cold weather, barring those that "waste" battery power by significantly warming the battery prior to heating just to save a minute or two of headline charging speed.

The charging curve is a bit odd at times, as battery temp management does its job, but it's all relative - overall, both this and EV6 charge faster than pretty much anything else when charging a decent percentage of the battery, i.e 25% to 80%.

Compared to say a Mach-E, ID.4 (or any MEB car), or even some of the M3s, the fact that it takes a few minutes to get up to a speed well in excess of those cars is just a bit of an YT'er click bait "thing" (ooh, ooh "cold-gating!!!") - in the real world, who cares if it takes 25 minutes or 27 minutes - what it's not doing is taking an hour to get 80% on a smaller battery, with less total range, like my old ID.3 used to.
