Anyone getting one? They look amazing IMO. I put down a £250 deposit last week, just before they hiked the price by almost £3k! Getting a V2 58kWh 204ps in white.

No release date as yet, apparently they have an issue with a wiring loom produced in Ukraine, so Cupra are trying to get made elsewhere. Could be anything from a couple of months to a year!

They're now available via salary sacrifice at my employer, but I'm torn as to whether the prices are worth it. The below is based on 20% tax payer:

V1 £408/mth
V2 £442/mth
V3 £450/mth

Includes insurance, maintenance, tyres etc.

I would be looking to see how those figures compare with an ID3 and other similar cars.

I like the look of the Born, won't be touching anything from VW until they sort out their infortainment though. Can't wait to be rid of my Cupra.

iD3 is no longer available via the work scheme due to the 12-18mth lead time. Unfortunately I cannot justify prices like that for myself. Pre-pandemic I was driving to work every day and my car was the main family car for weekend duties, since my wife has had a new car that duty has fallen on her, and I only work in the office 50% of the time now, which now means my annual mileage has dropped to 3-4k, I can barely justify owning a car, never mind spending £450/mth on an EV

Why what’s wrong with your Cupra?

And yeah I wouldn’t touch an ID3 with that infotainment system. Plus I think they’re overpriced when compared to other car specs

Yeah, same basic system, just different graphics.

I tested both when I test drove them and the Cupra one wasn’t half as laggy and bad as the ID3 one. It looked completely different tbh which is why I thought they were different.

The Cupra is probably running the latest version of the VW system, the same as the newer revised VW\Audis EVs will be coming with

Just depends which version of the software the ID3 was running. I've not driven an ID3 that wasn't on the latest software, and I've not had any complaints.

I don't know if I have a problem with the VW system per se but the unlit heating controls is a pain if you're the sort of person who wants to change them every so often. I'm not personally so not a huge issue. I find the adaptive cruise that picks its own random speed limits to adhere to substantially more annoying.

I think reviewers make a big song and dance about infotainment as it's easy to fill five mins of YouTube with it but in reality how often do you interact with it? If a lot then of course it's a big issue but for me, if the Born e-boost is as good to drive as some make out then it could have any infotainment so long as it plays decent tunes.

My wife's got one on order - I'm salary sacrificing for her. V2 Aurora Blue, with the cargo pack so you get the adjustable boot floor.

Est delivery mid-Nov according to the dealer... we'll see! Having said that, my Q4's estimate has just come forward from Mid to Early Oct...

Wireless charger melts screen protectors off the phone gets so hot due to location. Carplay wirelessly is mega laggy, even on a wire it is a challenge. The whole system is so slow, the sat nav default screen works of co-ordinates not location names, the heater controls not being lit and even when you can see them there is no easy way to adjust fan speed without using the screen. Go to look at your favourite radio stations and the screen defaults to the lower segment with the + button so you have to scroll to see your stations, it's all just really badly done.

Nice………I did consider that colour too. I didn’t add any options as the dealer said it would likely push lead times into 2023.

Test drove one today; the dealer was surprised to see me back 15 minutes after I left.

Looks nice until you drive it and you discover how horrible it is.

Awful controls for the nav/entertainment, and the heater controls even worse, let alone the appalling touch sensitive steering wheel controls.

Uncomfortable seats.

Significant road noise.

Too aggressive regen when not in regen mode.

Ludicrous position for the gear lever.

Poor acceleration even in ‘sport’ mode.

Interior trim is not very nice.

How on earth this made it into production is a mystery.

Can't comment on the Cupra Born but the wife has just got an ID.3 and I have to say VAG just can't get user interfaces right. I've leased Skoda/SEATs and they're the same. The sat nav is SLOW, the heater controls have a mind of their own, you have to put too much effort into what you are trying to achieve that it should be illegal to have something so complicated in a car.

The ID.3 is fun to drive, it's pretty quick in sport mode. She's getting about 210 miles per full charge. It's only the more basic model so the interior is pretty drab and uninspiring and the seats a bit plank like.

Just ordered a V2 77kW eboost, of all the smaller EV's we tried this one stood out well.
It is a pain heater control etc are touch but after our extended test drive it was quite easy to switch thing round.
The head-up display is by the far the best I've come across, the augmented reality is a bit of a gimmick but actually liked it.
Performance felt similar to a golf gti so plenty enough there, limited to 99 though but TBH its very rare to go above that ahah
Just looking like the end of the year for delivery!

The complaints about the heater controls mainly come from people who haven't spent enough time in an MEB car, they're fine once you're used to them.

Must say, I do like the look of the Born, bit irritating that the 77kW is a 4 seater only though.
