Mechnical Watches and Electric Vehicles
Discussion
Afternoon all.
Anyone experienced any issues with owning an electric vehicle and wearing a traditional mechanical watch?
I know a number of more modern watches have a faraday cap or cage which would limit the issue of magnetism with a watch but plenty of watches don't have this and could be exposed to such an issue.
Tesla owners? Taycan drivers? Any feedback?

EVs don't make H fields of any magnitude at any distance from their powertrain because the currents cancel and only the unbalanced leakage high frequency AC currents cause a tiny common mode disturbance at very short ranges (< 1cm)
Are there any cars in the pipeline with built-in 5G wifi...airweaz said:
Just asking the question. Im doing some research on very traditional watches and electric cars.
I would imagine being in the cabin of a car would be a lesser magnetic field. However if a mechanic or tech was working on a tesla for example it would be exposed to a greater field.
None issue… all Tesla mechanics wear Rolex Milgauss watches.I would imagine being in the cabin of a car would be a lesser magnetic field. However if a mechanic or tech was working on a tesla for example it would be exposed to a greater field.

This has really made me laugh. And for those saying its some sort of humble brag about cars and watches. I drive a seat and wear a beaten up old G Shock.
I know for a fact that those fitted with a pacemaker cannot work on a Porsche Taycan for example. So could a watch be affected by as a traditional hairspring is sensitive. Albeit without the consequences of death and A and E.
