If it has the same kind of interior and infotainment as the id3/id4, etc then count me out
No, it's new tech - a new operating system for the infotainment and actual physical controls rather than just touch pads.

Having spent a few days in an id.3, I know how bad the existing systems are frown

I'd guess the more direct competitor from Renault, certainly the Id2, will be the Renault 5.

Have a read of the vw id3 forums - several cases of cars being bricked by sw updates and stuck at dealers, or dealers not trained and unable to do anything until a tech flies over from Germany.

Vw no better than other manufacturers
Thankfully the new id. 2 has grand new software so hopefully they have learned from the id. 3 problems.[snip]
The new software has an animated wolf so they've obviously focused on the important issues.

I think it's 40/45kw and 58kw.

58kw apparently will have a new battery chemistry to the standard existing tech 40/45kw.
Are you sure it's not the other way around? From what VW have said previously, I suspect the "new" battery chemistry is LFP which has lower energy density and peak power transfer than NMC so tends to be used for lower capacity/performance versions of cars.

Think if Dacia bring out an updated Spring for 2/3rds the price of this they'd make a killing.

Having lived with an ID3 I wouldn't rush to buy one of these.

Autocar this week saying 38kW for the small battery, just 'different' chemistries.

I'd originally heard the bigger battery would be the one with the new chemistry, but being as it's 58kW maybe the big battery will just be a standard VW pack that they use in many other EVs already.

I'm a fan of Dacia, there could be some good competition ahead.

Current tech in VW's is pretty bad, it's why I bought a Mk7.5 Golf instead of the Mk8 Golf that has similar tech to the ID3.

They have finally realised that poor touchpads aren't much use in a car, and are returning to actual physical dials and buttons in the future.

Alongside hopefully much better software, ID3 infotainment was pretty poor.

Definitely the mini can be had with a heat pump. New mini out this year with a claimed milage of 250miles so I guess the small car market will be the heating up.

Maybe there's hope for VW yet.

Real knobs!

These would absolutely fly off the shelf if they’re sub £25k or even £30k for the larger battery version. They really do need to throw every bit of development resource they can at it to speed up the launch date though!

My wife’s Born goes back Mar ‘26. This would almost certainly be a perfect replacement but it’s looking tight if they’re not premiering till end ‘25…

That looks so much better than the ID3 in so many ways.
