Just a heads up, I noticed that this series is being repeated on BBC 2 starting on Monday at 11:20.

If you haven't seen it before and have an interest in WW2, it is well worth watching.

I take it you were involved in the production?

________

Very good series imo, one of the best factual-ish war films made.

The colour balance stuff they used to bring out the greens and browns makes it look dirty and war like. Superb stuff.

Like the others I have the Tin box set. Not seen it in a tin for ages after I got it until I was stuck in Chicago airport for 6 hours a few weeks ago.

Another vote for 'excellent' here. The end of the final episode is particularly poignant.

Last time it was shown I recorded it on VHS, so I'll be ready with a DVD/HD recorder this time! Thanks for the notice.

I guessed you'd hired some vehicles - but it seems you now have enough stuff for a private war! A friend of mine does a similar thing for WW1, if you ever need older stuff.

There was rumour of HBO doing a British Airborne series to accompany Band of Brothers...

Now that would be magnificent!

Quite a few deleted scences from BOB.Including battle scenes with british Airborne. One of the most over looked deleted scenes from a film is from Saving Private Ryan.A whole 25 minutes was cut of an Ambush scene in which the main cast are travelling in a Jeep and trailer on there way to find Ryan. The ensueing battle displayed some of the most graphic battle scenes in the film.Matching those of the opening landing sequence. The entire cut was given over to the scene showing the main cast walking across the fields and an introduction in to there characters. This was the reason given to the cut.As the battle didnt portary who the individual characters were. There is eveidence still in the film of the cut in question. In the scene where Capt Miller recruits Uppam to the squad,as the Camera pans away from the beachhead you can clearly see the main cast leaving in a Jeep and trailer. The scene than cuts to them walking across the field.

From speaking to people on the film. The actual scene is mentioned in a book that was published in conjuction with the film on its launch.I bought my copy in America. As i believe it was only distrbuted stateside.I had an provided unlikely help in the film.As a year before production started i had a few production people take photos of a display i was dipicting of 2nd Ranger Battalion in 1995 in Kent. After asking why they were taking some many close ups of the individual maniquins and there clothing and equipment,i was told it was hopefully for a "big budget production".Turns out it was Ryan.here is my set up at a show.Like the ones they took the photos from......
