We drove into the airtrack campsite with no checks and 15 cases of bottled beer in the boot. No worries. Airtrack is within the track enclosure and there were atleast three indiviual places where we had to be let through a gate where our ticket was checked to get in, no checks for anything else though.

We took several coolbags stacked with bottled beer to the track. No worries. The only issue we had was when we were openly drinking bottled beer in the pits on the open pit day, when a very nice polite Frenchman calmly and quietly asked us to drink up and dispose of the bottles. In hindsight, yes, drinking from a glass bottle on the pitlane was a bit thoughtless, although we all were very careful to put empties in pockets/bags until we could find a bin.

The ban was on glass bottles, not on alcohol. We got asked if we had any glass bottles; some other cars were checked (boot and all) - but not sure if for such offending articles - or for some other reason

I assumed it was simply for safety reasons

Security was noticeably upped this year - lots of big chaps you wouldn't mess with, in red 'Securite' jackets at the gates of all the campsites I passed

Not really, I know I saw this thread the day before we left and was frantically reading to find out what the story was - a useless post from some adenoidal grammar Nazi just gets in the way.
I'm sorry guys, I can't understand why I didn't see Andy Zarse's post as a paragon of grammatical perfection. Wordsworth would be proud of the chap, with his sympathetic use of the f word.

I was on Tetre Rouge & the car searched twice thou noticeably this was at the beginning of the weekend. As above, red jacketed individual, thoroughly charming & polite.

Having read the warnings on here prior to departure took the precaution of hiding ths stubbies behind pax seat, so in a 2 door coupe once the hatch was lifted they went no further.

Overall, particularly as we leave by the Dunlop Bridge & stage alot less glass undertyre so that was appreciated.

We arrived on Thursday lunchtime at Tertre Rouge and weren't searched, the gate staff didn't seem bothered when we wandered trackside with stubbies either. Security has always been a TR plus point, but had been stepped up this year, more regular patrols of the site, including one Monsieur in plain clothes. Good to see, hope the ACO keep it up.

We arrived on Friday in the MX5. Had the boot searched. I asked if he was looking for bottles, but he said no. I said "bombs" and he said yes.

This guy stopped us at the gate as we came in and asked if we had any booze onboard.

When we replied no he slapped us all and gave us a couple of cases'.

Have learnt my lesson for next year!!!

SHOCK HORROR
Just got tickets for SILVERSTONE Classic and WTF NO glass allowed on campsite !
Come on lads rally to the cause and get this draconion rule lifted.
I can't see any online protest to get this ban lifted.
Oh just realised the ACO do not organise this event so I can't have a go at them, bugger.
Suppose beer will be £2.50 pint trackside though so that's alright then. :beer

Down to Leclerc and get some wineboxes then getmecoat

Yeah I saw the other Noble too. It was being pushed along with a bloke on each corner of the car. I asked if it was one of those new Electric Nobles. Bloke didn't get !! The Kroni sticker was great. I think for next year the 'sticker your car up' theme should be something to do with "no bottles in this car" or something on those lines. Maybe a big inflatable beer bottle on the car. Or a VW Beetle with hundreds of Kroni bottles on it like the famous light bulb car.

his is one of the guys in our group. We had the same stickers on the side of our car and a few clearly visible crates of beer in the back and they had a quick look in and around the car and waved us on, this was on Beausejour btw.
