I thought you could pay the Dartford ransom money up to midnight the following day.

Yep! Just checked and you can. Here's a link; https://www.gov.uk/pay-dartford-crossing-charge

It's a pity, considering Sanef run the Dartford crossing and French roads, that the transponders don't work on both sides of the channel. How easy would that be.

As yourself why Sanef set up an operation based in the UK some 4 years ago. Maybe they know something...

I was just thinking earlier how great it would be if all of our tolls were as joined up as the French autoroutes instead of requiring separate accounts or gobs etc....

I have a TAG and have used it for about 6 years.

It would save me loads of time, but doesn't as my mates in my convoy wont invest in one and I have to wait for them once through the tolls. Saves getting in and out of the car though

I did speak to Sanef about the tag being accepted for the Dartford ransom collection as well as in France. They said that "the French tag can't be used at Dartford at the moment but they were looking into it".
So, it may happen one day.

Yeah I know what you mean. Although I've never actually thought about it before, I think I get about 180 miles to a tank on the way to Le Mans at £85 a tank. It's usually 4 or 5 tanks per round trip.

€45???!!! eek Pppfffff! I spit in your general direction (said in a comedy French accent)

My fuel budget for the trip is about £300. Usually split with a co-driver but he decided to get his wife preganant at the wrong time of year. So while we're off for a week he's got 5 week old twins and a house move to sort. Bad timing all round!

You might be pleased to know that 98 petrol is currently the equivalent of £1.06 at my local garage in the Mayenne, 95 is £1.02. Definitely cheaper than the UK.
Autoroutes are the most expensive and 'Total' garages always seem to be the most expensive.

Here's a link where you can check French fuel prices; http://www.carbeo.com/
