Second time in 20 years I haven't been. Watched a combination of Quest and then the live stream on YouTube advertised here until ITV4 went live on Sunday morning. I thought the coverage was OK, the adverts did piss me off but it was worth watching the tv coverage just to witness the Aston v Corvette scrap at the death. But like everyone else I don't understand the 'boathouse advert'

It would be better used by durex as a means to ending divorce procedures, bit bizarre to use that story to advertise a 4x4 car.

This was the first year since 2001 that i did not go to the race. Something the Mrs has been moaning about constantly and so we will most certainly be back next year.

Observations:-

1. We enjoyed the race far more than we had in years and were regularly updating people at the track with what was going on

2. We were very glad we didn't have to sleep in a super heated tent this year.

3. It is a lot easier to keep your G&T cold and my garden does not have a rule banning the erection of Spa pools. the Drive home was a lot easier, as was the breaking camp (lid back on BBQ and wheel away to side of garden).

4. There was not one single argument or disagreement with some pissed up prick of a Brit.

5. TV on the WEC app was fine at my place - only needed to re boot a couple of times during the 25 hours it was on (plus quali) Looked at a few streams of the Eurosport coverage but was not over impressed with it and a hy of RLM and WEC app seemed the best solution.

6. We are planning next years trip already.
I've only been once so far - last year - but that sums up my experience entirely.

Added bonus - depending on your view! - is that Mrs PB was really into it and wants to go with me next year!

DELETED: Comment made by a member who's account has been deleted.
Rusinov has a 3 minute stop & go at the next round for his driving. Yet the team are electing to keep him and dump Lynn (who got them class pole, but didn't get to drive in the race).Logic ?

Rebellion have been disqualified for cutting the hole in bodywork so they could access the starter, which apparently is a clear violation of the rules. Whats worse is that they tried to hide it in Parc Ferme.

So Jackie Chan team get a 1-2 in class.

Disagree with you on the 2020 regs, I don't think the proposals will ever come to pass - the commercial value isn't there for manufacturers and the costs are too high for privateers and that tech. One of the guys on RLM laid in to the proposals big time, saying they will increase costs and do nothing to improve the show for fans - I think he's right. He said they haven't been thought through, especially with regards to charging systems in pit lane.

I think the privateer thing thats currently starting to happen will take over before they get to enact those regs.

I think, as another poster said before, they should go back to the gt1, 2,3 format, which would bring in a lot more cars (think how varied the gt3 field is) and give the manufacturers a chance to build race versions of the 918, P1, etc. Maybe one prototype class to show off what can be done.

Also, how long has the dbr9 gone without an update? It looks the same as when it started!

It's not a DBR9, its a Vantage GTE, its received lots of updates over the years to every area of the car, it still looks like a Vantage though. biggrin

Yes, it's obvious now you mention it, not sure why I still had the DBR9 in mind. Still, hasn't the Vantage been out a while? When compared to the others anyway...

Vantage has been around in this form since 2005 according to Wiki.

I've only been to the race once in the flesh, the epic 95 race where McLaren won with JJ Lehto's amazing drive through the night in the wet.
That was my first year. Sat there on the bank among the pine trees by the Esses watching that drive by JJ Lehto, wow. Just got back from my 20th trip to the 24 hour and I still think of that drive.
