I did, €90.00 fine in the post. I was picked out following a line of cars at 170k on the A16 before the A28 junction.

Anyone else?

There was a chap, Yorkshire Surveyor on here I think, told us about one guy in his convoy back who was just off to make a donation to the local Gendarme Xmas fund, over 100mph I think he said.

I got pulled over on the way back on Sunday. Escorted off the motorway to be greeted by 20+ Gendarmes. Fortunately I speak French which calmed the aggressive looking gendarmes. They asked for my paperwork and then told me I could go. I asked why he had pulled me over and he gave me the following reason. "We saw a Porsche with stickers speeding so we pulled you over"!!!! Turns out it was another non law abiding Porsche they were after......

3 of our group got pulled for doing 149 in a 110 stretch on Sunday.... 90Euros each car...no proof was given by the police, and despite fluent French speaker amongst the accused, they got their xmas fund donation.

The funnier one was Friday night in town. Some of us stayed on for the party atmosphere after the parade and as it got a bit darker one of the group who had left decided to come back in his Aventador. Cue a big happy crowd surrounding him as he made some loud flames.
He got pulled soon after leaving, Policeman spoke little/no French....gesticulating about revving too much....with neither one understanding the other...the cop eventually took him by the elbow and said "come with me....you have money?"
To which my colleague replied "Why do you want an ice cream?"
He had picked up a friend of ours to take back to camp and he managed to translate that in the French just to be sure...?!

At this point John Darm discovered his humour and just laughed and let them go....

We saw 2 guys in older 911s make an involuntary donation on Monday afternoon on the way back to Caen in the same place some of our group "donated" 2 yrs ago - they'd come past us making "progress" a short while before & although we were looking out for them & we were travelling in a big 4x4, we still couldn't spot them with the radar gun! Their favourite lay by for cash deposits looked quite busy hehe

Having been to La Chartre for lunch, after dropping the cars and getting the shuttle and tram we didn't get into town until the end of the parade (Harley Davidsons) on Friday, but a bit later we saw a white Aventador roadster dicking about near the restaurant we went to (on a zebra corssing near a tram stop), he kept going up and down the same stretch and stopping to rev it - asking for trouble of one kind or another if you ask me. Having seen the video of someone in Dubai or somewhere repeatedly revving an orange one and promptly setting it on fire I wondered if this guy might do the same.

The fine is in the post and will arrive in the next 7 to 10 days, I did not pay any money at the point of being stopped, so I'm not sure how it will work.

I was recorded by a radar in a convoy of 7 cars all averaging around 80 & 100mph, however I was the only one pulled (don't feel sorry for me I was in the wrong, my fault). Interestingly the Police were very picky on the cars they pulled based on the following 6 cars that came in after me. All very high end... of which all the drivers were banned.

Didn't even see a single gendarme eitehr way, util we got back to the ferry in Caen where there were a bunch of them making random checks. We were sure they would pull us over in the Hummer but no, they just stood in the way of getting into our nominated lane a little..

Then you were treated lightly. The standard fine for more than 20 kph over the limit is €135 and 2 points for three years. If you had been taken at 151 kph far worse. Maybe they were being rather gentle with you? Think on.

This happened to a mate in an F40 a couple of years back - he was being urged by the crowd to rev the engine, he did so and got an immediate fine.

After 3 years ago being fined and having my license taken, then last year fined again. This year I decided to comply and just coast in avoiding the temptation to drop my right foot

You can get fined for revving? I assume they class it as anti-social rather than a specific revving offence?

yep.
It was a minor revelation for me, as prior to that event I'd sort of 'judged' Lambo owners similarly harshly for making noise like that, or 'dicking about'.
The fact is though....why do you buy a Lambo?
On the ferry over to France, prior to disembarking he let a few kids sit in it....the looks on their faces!...made their year before even getting to France! then he started it up... made me remember why I love cars so much.
Once on some quiet stretches he let me drive it (!) and I felt and looked liked those kids!
The he let it loose on straight quiet dry motorways...
So when he arrived in town that night and just drove slowly and revved a lot, it all made sense. It was Lemans weekend, petrolhead party...why would you NOT drive around in an open top Lambo and rev it some? THAT'S why you buy a Lambo, if you're not into being looked at and making a noise...you don't get one.

Just out of curiosity does getting caught for speeding in France lead to points on a U.K. Licence?

PS apologies to the other stickered up Porsche driver in case I had anything to do with you being stopped....

No points thankfully just a fine if the actual police catch you.

I got flashed by a few cameras on the way to and fro - I think there was meant to be an EU points system in the pipeline but hopefully that will be scrapped now!

I'm usually flashed a few times on the way and way back from skiing and never hear anything.

The rules changed recently, expect some French letters that are not of the fun type.

You should have paid attention to the news before the trip. Those fines are now enforcable in the UK.
Good luck chief =(

Not really sure why some Brits feel that they can nip over to France, ignore the rules and then feel offended when they get pulled?
In all seriousness. I'm not trying to pour fuel on a fire here. There are rules and speed limits, just like here, in the UK.

I guess the difference is that the motorways/autoroutes/peage, all seem incredibly empty, when compared to the UK.

Can you imagine what the Daily Mail would say, if 50,000 French blokes came over here and drove around like loons, expecting to get away with it?
