Final nail in the coffin for LMP1 surely - Costs are high, the racing isn't that exciting, although they are awesome things, and as this year showed, as they push the boundaries of the hybrid tech, the cars aren't particularly reliable.

If Toyota stay in, then surely for next year, they will just turn the car down to 2016 levels knowing it is mostly reliable and win without any real competition
I can't see that Toyota will want to see all the money they have spent go to waste. I imagine they still want to win Le Mans. What they may be able to do is ditch the hybrid gear and run an non-hybrid LMP1. There's still a risk they might not win, but being the sole LMP1 hybrid would be a bit of a hollow victory. Of course being the sole LMP1-H and then not winning would be an absolute disaster.
