Lagonda DP115

Looking for a bit of information on the 1954 /1955 Lagonda DP115 - in particular, the one that had three separate grills:



Can't find much on the web, only can find information on the DP115 that has one grill

Anyone know anything about them?

This suggests its the same car as No 7 in 1954 Le Mans - picture shows just a single grill then but added spotlights (Eric Thompson and Dennis Poore - crashed out in 4hr)

Looks as if screen also modified to single screen for Le Mans if true (note early D Types at Le Mans had single screen in 54 and 55 and understand DB3S No 8 Aston in 54 race also a single screen cockpit)

This lists the photo in your OP as the car in early tests 22 April 1954 (3 weeks or so before Silverstone race)

The Motor Sport Magazine detailed report states that AML fielded a mixed bag 5 cars of 4 different designs/versions (none finished the race) and that the 2nd Lagonda entered in the up to 5 litre category wasn't completed and so a DB3S with a supercharger added to the engine was fielded instead of it. DP115 based on a DB3S with longer wheelbase and reinforced tubes (for larger V12 engine) and the single grill (and single windshield) looks very similar to DB3S's running in 1953 at Dundrod TT. Single deep grill with wide bottom very much a AM road car style in 1950s compared to deep narrower apple shaped grill on Lagonda road cars - so more complicated 3 piece grill may have fitted in with original plans and Lagonda look but in a hurry for Le Mans including windshield modification might explain change in grill if required to an earlier DB3S design (the 1954 DB3S grill was not as deep).

Thank you for your help, I'm actually trying to find the exact colour of the car with 3 grills for a project. But it would seem there is very little information about it.
