LM - 2018 onwards?

Big article in the Ouest France paper yesterday saying it is doubtful that Toyota will appear next season. And after all the shouting that Peugeot want to come back it is announced that they are concentrating on rallying. LMP1 seems to be a dead duck.
I find it a little odd of Toyota to pull out. I guess they fell they can only 'lose' from entering. If they win, they should have anyway. If they lose it will look really bad.
Last I heard was Toyota were pushing to change the proposed rules around BOP (or whatever it's called for LMP1) so that the gap was closed between hybrid and non hybrid as AOC had it still in clear favour of hybrid?

and I thought Peugeot chose Rallycross (not WRC) over WEC?

I assume where "lowdrag" says Peugeot concentrate on rallying, means PSA group as the WRC entry is a Citroen.
They maybe need extra cash to pay Sebastien Ogier's wages next year.
Peugeot still doing Dakar rallies too in a 2008 thing.
No, rally cross championship which everyone is apparently watching.... Yet never really see any coverage of (TV or print). They maybe need extra cash to pay Sebastien Ogier's wages next year.

Peugeot putting more support into a team competing. Dunno if they are continuing Dakar entry.
I personally don't know why Toyota would compete if things stay the same. History will obviously read they had a victory (you'd have to hope they would win it), but it would be pretty hollow.
If they don't finish it really would be a smack in the face for the company.
It has been amazing watching these hybrid creations but it's always felt things would go pop. Feel a bit let down at how both audi and porsche have withdrawn. Audi for letting fans not get another chance to see them for last time before announcing exit and porsche for simply doing a precision marketing top up and leaving the event they use so much for history, up the creek without a paddle.

Peugeot still entering the Dakar ,Loeb then needs to rush back and possibly drive a Citroen on the Monte.
Loeb might do more WRC rounds in 2018 or presumably stay at Peugeot Hansen in WRX.
Peugeot probably need to up the WRX budget as they rarely beat the Volkswagen team Sweden Polos or the EKS Audis.

Fingers crossed that Alonso is in the car for Le Mans.
Why? Another F1 prima-donna to come along and, well not really do any better/as well as the ranks of professional endurance sports car racers.Did Mark Webber come back to sports cars and make everyone go "Wow, he's so much better/faster than everyone else"? He didn't even set the pole lap.

Alonso is a better driver than Webber ever was, so not quite the same. If Alonso isn't faster then that reflects well on the WEC drivers, particularly as F1 drivers are usually touted as being the best. I'd accept that F1 drivers are the best single-seater drivers but they don't seem to be very good dealing with cars travelling at different speeds on the same track or safety car restarts. Or is that JUST Vettel...?
I hope Alonso isn't in a GTE Pro as he isn't very good at blue flags in F1 where the gap between the McLaren Honda and the front runners isn't quite as big as GTE Pro and LMP1 Would be nice for Alonso to overtake something even if it isn't in the same class as the car he is competing in.Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
