Morning,

We've agreed on our scheme which will involve viper stripes over the top of all cars, which means getting around badges.

In the olden days when I did this to my Cerbera I would just whip the badge off, sticker up and then shove the badge back on, that's not the case now though.

We have audi roundels, jaguar lettering and a leaper, Porsche lettering and an aston badge to get round.

Any tips on how to do this ?

Also should the car really be wax free?

Cheers

D

clean as you can is best
assuming they're coming off as soon as? as regards the badges etc either finish stripes above/below/around them or pre-mark where they are on vinyl and cut off car, DO NOT cut on the car after applying, cut too deep and you risk the cut rusting at a later date.

linky for using knifeless tape if you need to trim on car...

watch a few to get the idea, if Gus and Will on Flipping Bangers can do it anyone can laugh
I'd love to see the MX5 now

Thanks, I can't completely cut off car but will do most of it.

I'd never seen the knifless stuff before, very clever.

Thinking about it I will probably resort to masking off the emblems etc and then cutting very carefully with a scalpel

Used viper stripes from stickeredup4lemans, there instructions recommended a coat of wax first. Used a wax pencil mark the centre line down the bonnet and then used a modelling knife and curved scissors to cut round the leaper badge .
I've just replaced the side shields on the wings with some with 2018 ones The old Ines came off easily with the applications of heat from a hair dryer without problem.
Never seen the knifeless tape before love it.

How easy are they to get off? i.e., is there a risk of wrecking the paintwork?

I'm thinking of properly stickering up this year, but am just worried about the paintwork on my garage queen.

They have always come off for me without issue. Just follow the instructions.

As long as the paintwork hasn't been redone they will be fine. We found out to our cost the other year when I came to take off the stickers it pulled a 6 inch square of paint away with it. It turned out the garage we bought the car from had had a small dent repaired and repainted. Just pour hot / v warm water over the stickers and pull off.

Yeah, if you know of any repaints/laquer that have been done on the car, don’t apply decals to those areas. Too many cheap jobs out there. Otherwise you’re golden.

Thanks for the replies.

My car has had some paint over the years (bumper re-sprays), so I'll be careful in those areas.

I've used the same method for applying/removing stickers over the past 5 years.... I clean the car thoroughly and wax it before applying them and when it comes to removing them, l pour very warm water over the stickers in question before attempting to remove them and if you've any doubt, point a hair dryer close to the stickers/paintwork as you're taking them off. Failing that, only apply stickers to the windows wink

That's what I did last time around, and when I got there I wished I'd done more!

I have a Clio V6 and I reckon it could look pretty awesome with a whole bunch of trophy inspired stickers on it!
