This is the convoy for next week for my mates and I. Mine is the Trevor on the end. A new GT3 RS is joining us also. It’s a bit of a weird mix but we’re all petrolheads. Join us for a beer if you see us.

Isn’t it just! I was eulogising over the one in the Haynes museum the other week. I real “gentleman’s swift conveyance”.

Good news! With the help of my brother-in-law(I knew in-laws had some uses) we managed to get the old gearbox out and the new one in last night. Only took 5 hours! We just have to check everything over, fill it with oil and should be good to go. Had a few issues along the way and the Mrs had locked me out when I got home at midnight but she let me in eventually. lol
Excellent progress

I'd post another picture of mine but It looks the same biggrin

18 hoses out of 30 now fitted and a custom heat shield (the last one of a full set that I never fitted 4 years ago) now fits without brute force

The next picture will look a lot worse as to do two hoses the front bumper needs to come off

So I've spent most of the evening drilling out the rusty fixings (already had stainless screws ready - purchased last time I had the bumper off knowing they were a bit chewed up and rusty then,,,,,,,,)
So things didn't go to plan, the replacement gearbox is dead! Filled it with oil primed...etc fired it up; clunk clunk grind and no drive to the wheels. Oh bugger! Not sure if we made a mistake during the install or it was just broken from the start. So had an evening of swearing and kicking stuff and then decided to give the old gearbox a good service and stick it back in. At least the car would move with this box in. Got all that done last night and things appear to be ok..... Test drive tonight but it was at least going through the gears and spinning the wheels on the lift. If all is well I need to make the call, will it last the trip or do I change the ferry booking and just go in the daily Audi..... Decisions decisions.

It's at least going back together now

3 hoses and a rad to fit

Then there is the fun of getting all the air out of the system - however I always find a long run shifts all the air out nicely

Going in this. Had a classic option or two but nothing quite worked out in time unfortunately. Will still be a nice drive down though hopefully! First time going to the Classic.
