Best time to go to the town on Friday

Looking for a bit of advice here, please :-D
I'm doing my second Le Mans this year with the wife, and also my best mate is in tow for his first visit to the 24H. Last time, we didn't make it into the town. We spent the day just hanging around the circuit area and campsite, so naturally this year I'd like to hear to the town to maybe see the driver's parade, or maybe even a car show elsewhere if something else is on?
Recommendations please! Are there any particular times that the town are super busy and to be avoided?

Presuming you're taking the tram, the earlier the better. It get's very busy with Le Mans goers, let alone the locals getting on (or trying to) at every stop. It's my worse 30 minutes of the weekend! So, I'd recommend going 'early' i.e. around 12/ish, have a mooch about the Old Town which is worth a look and then head to main square.

Looks like just outside East entree/gate - Antares near (just SW of) MM Arena inside Tertre Rouge/start of Mulsanne (reasonably close to Premier Vert if you can drop in there for a drink if you're with 1st tickets etc), but it's a quite a long way from Bleu NordWe always used to go into Le Mans on Friday before lunch. You can park at that time of the day, and get a nice lunch too. Mooch around in the afternoon and get a decent place for the drivers parade.
The tram is very convenient and you can pick it up in a couple of places (at least) at the circuit, and it will drop you off right in the centre of town.
The old town is very interesting on account of being largely medieval. Even more amazing, and I have to admit to a certain amount of shame given that we discovered this on our 32nd consecutive visit, are the Roman remains at the base of the old town, next to the river.
You can cycle from the circuit into the middle of town in, I should have thought, about 15/20 minutes maximum.

The Answer is yes, but You would need to limit your times and be in a convenient place to get your car out.Get up early and do the pit walk, not sure what time it opens? Then do GBW or the mulsanne corner car show, (I always like to drive a bit of the circuit).
Now depending weather or not you plan on drinking
dump car back at campsite and get the tram to the city centre, get off at central republic,the large square is full of beer stands, there is also on the other side of the tram lines a public toilet. plenty of bars with toilets. the streets will be busy but you will be able to find a spot.
Keep an eye on time when doing the pit walk.

Or you can get on at Guetteloup which is convenient if you're nearer Tetre Rouge exit of the track. Agree, great atmosphere on the Friday in the town. Top tip, there is a public loo on the McDonalds side of the square (albeit not the most peasant, but usually quite quick) as the bar loo's will be rammed.Philip-8km5h said:

I think early pit walk, then trip to town followed by car show sounds like a great combo!

I think the big question is, how much are you going to drink...?Getting in is easy. Getting back when you're hammered, not so much.
