Hi PH,

Already thinking ahead to 2019, and pondering a trip out not just for the race, but starting with a drive down on the Saturday for scrutineering on Sunday.

I wondered if anyone knew of any campsites or accomodation suggestions for the days before the main campsites open up which I think is on Weds/Thurs?

Would appreciate any thoughts....

We travelled down on the Saturday this year and just found a hotel for the Saturday night then went to our campsite, bsj, which opened on the Sunday, not 100% sure but I think the other main ones where open as well.

I think Arnage and Mulsanne might open later in the week, but the rest open on Sunday, you should be able to get a cheap hotel for the Saturday night, or there are plenty of local campsites and Aires du Camping Cars around

Thanks - that's really helpful. Previously, we'd done private camping at Bleu Sud, which is more restrictive on arrival timings.

Would you mind giving an indicative cost, and any thoughts on what the hot shower/loo facilities are like?

Costs for the public campsites? You could wait for the ACO to put tickets on sale but you may well only have the choice of Beausejour or Beausejour, or ring some agencies, I use tickets-2-u, you'll pay a mark-up but phone now and you should be able to pick any site. They're asking £105 for Bleu, and like other agencies want you to buy 2 entry tickets per camping ticket.
Tickets-2-u are asking for money in full now, other agencies might be just taking deposits, not sure.
As for toilets and showers, I've only ever camped at Tertre Rouge and never had an issue with either.

Camping Houx is open Monday-Monday. We're also planning going earlier next year.

Are you sure? Other public campsites have opened on Sunday since the first day of scrutineering moved to the Sunday.

Yep all sites open around 9am. This year Houx eventually opened at 10am after they found the map.

We usually set up then get the tram in.

Tertre rouge is definitely open from Sunday morning, I assumed the other main sites were too.

I'm planning on doing this next year too. The trip to Le Mans never feels long enough and it just comes and go's so quickly!
