Just received an e-mail this morning from Speedchills stating that they're not doing "private" camping at Le Mans in 2019.

Myself and a group of friends have use Speedchills on a number of occasions - and their private camping set up was very good and getting better by the year. Something tells me that the costs of renting the land have become too much for them.

Would appreciate any pointers toward another tour operator/ camping specialist that runs private camping at Le Mans please.

Thanks very much

I agree - we love them, but I reckon a break can be good - means they avoid any Brexit red tape as well and yes, probably lots of factors to add to the mix that if you are running an event like this makes the margins risky

We have used Travel Destinations before and they are good, and for off site, Le Mob were amazing

I too have had the email.

I suspect the uncertainty around Brexit means they can’t know if they will be able to employ their team in France in June. If we leave without a deal in March they would be up a creek without a paddle.

Been with them for last 6 years. I’ve been emailing asking what’s been going on for a while and feared this was coming.

Tickets to grandstands go on sale next week so need to decide if I’m going to go with somebody else pretty quickly.

This is certainly down to the fact that they struggle to fill the site. They did last year when Alonso was racing and seemed to cause an epic amount of people to go to Le Mans. The year before the site was half full (at Beausejour). This year with LMP in its last year I think many people won’t bother and will go for the new cars next year. I think this is the main driver. Brexit is a side issue and almost certainly won’t make a difference to attendance.

The cost of going to Le Mans has been getting quite steep and it is possible they are looking to reduce this.

I wasn’t planning on going to Le Mans next year, I’m going to Spa instead. If I was I would only go for private camping. With another player out of this it could mean the costs of the others go up.

I've only ever used Team Langoustine so no knowledge of what else is on offer but they've done me proud for the last seven years, the site is at Tertre Rouge, access in and out really easy and trackside viewing just outside the gate.

I went for the 1st time with Thomas Cook this year. No complaints, got sorted with a tent and sleeping bag as I was flying in. Even had UK plugs so I could charge my phone.

Plenty of activities in the main marquee too.

I've used 1st Tickets for the 5 years I've been going (staying at Bleu Nord) - a well run secure campsite with good food/facilities that's just far enough away from the track, but it's not too far to walk. I'll be back (as Arnie would say) next year as we can't have Brexit stopping our fun & it's one of the things I now have accepted by SWMBO hehe

very dissapointing ... been going to s/c blue sud for 10 years now. i'm gonna have to put a new favourite in google maps!

any views on travel destinations at the porsche curves? also, a lot of people seem to be recommending 1st tickets ... and there is also thomas cook, team langoustine ... any more i should consider?

the blue sud sight was pretty quiet and had a good bar and food (although they always ran out of bitter!) ... quiet is defo top of my list these days but i don't fancy 'off-site' ... any recomendations much appreciated..

This. 1st Tickets run the PistonHeads camping, so surely, it's the only option you need to consider? hehe 2019 will be our 10th anniversary.

We should be getting an article up later this week to register your interest with pricing/booking opening over the next few weeks. So watch this space and join us in 2019! If you're not after a package deal 1st Tickets offer general camping pitches on Bleu Nord too, or can build you a bespoke package based on your requirements.

We've always used 1st tickets and stay on Maison Blanche. I don't think Brexit is the reason behind speedchills not going, they were a civilised outpost on what has become a feral site.

+1 for Lycian events as trackside and bar good even though BSJ a bit of drag getting into and out of.

I've been going with Team Langoustine for several years (Houx / Houx Annex previous to that). Can't fault them and will be there again next year all being well.
