I’m going over in June for the N24 and this year LaMans falls the weekend before. I had looked at camping on the Friday-Monday but it might not work.

I have looked at a Ferry that would get into Caen for about 6am on the Sunday morning, meaning LeMans at 8am. Which would leave approx 7 hours of racing left to go.

I’ve never been to LeMans but want to see it, would there be much point in seeing just the last 1/4 of the race? I’m not sure how much you could see in a few hours rather than the full weekend.

The 2 best parts are the start and the end in my opinion. Seeing the cars doing their slowing down lap with their doors open, waving to the crowds and the flag marshalls waving all their flags as a sort of salute is a real treat.
You can buy tickets on the gate, or head to Hotel Arbor on the Mulsanne straight, pay 15 euros and get some brilliant viewing and a chicane

Not sure how you expect to be at le mans that quickly, the traffic will be a bit of a problem, but yes the last part of the race will be worth watching, you will need tp park somewhere away from the circuit and get the tram in unless you purchase a parking ticket at the circuit.

How busy does it be?

I assumed that with a prebooked parking ticket it might not be too bad to drive in. I’m in no rush to leave on Sunday.

In the morning it will be busy but if you have a parking space you will be ok.

The narrow road past our campsite is used as a main diversion route in from the highway for people coming to the circuit from the East of France on race days.

We found Sat morning was nuts, massive queues for hours. Sunday a little busy between 10.and 11, but nothing major.
People seem.to arrive at varying times on the Sunday so traffic is reasonable.

If you’re into the race then it’s definately worth stopping off for the finish.

There’s still loads to see and you could get around a few viewing spots in 7 hours. Be quite nice covering all the viewing spots from tetre rouge down to Porsche curves. Bit of lunch, see the finish and do the museum to let the traffic ease off.

Traffic on the Sunday is generally okay in the morning. I’d work out which approach road you’ll be coming in on and find a car park which feeds off it for ease of access.

There’s somewhere between 250-300,000 spectators usually, does that give you an idea?!

Can you not come over a day earlier and see at least some racing over night as well?

If I were you, I'd buy now a ticket for Parking Blanc where you get a dedicated space (they are all numbered) and which is close to a main entrance to the circuit, and then I'd arrive Saturday and sleep in the car. When the race has ended, have a BBQ for a couple of hours to let the exits from the car park free up..

I've been to LM maybe a dozen times. Always travelled on the Friday, returned on the Monday, booked hotel for Friday and Sunday and slept in the car Saturday so as to be at the circuit throughout the race and avoided the nightmare traffic Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

I’ve been to both the Nurburgring 24hr and Spa 24hr and was able to park and be at the circuit within about 20 minutes on Saturday and Sunday morning. Surely LeMans with a lot of people parked/camping since Thursday/Friday it can’t be all that worse... unless I’m missing something.

My schedule would either get me into LeMans on Saturday Night or Sunday morning.

We drove to various parts of the circuit on Sunday and it was fine.

Half the spectators are stsying there so not driving in on Sunday. The French who drive in are in much smaller numbers for the finish than the start
To be fair you've already been given the answers further up this thread. If you plan to be put off by someone quoting overall stats then youll end up not going at all
