Advice for LM19
Discussion
[quote=JT3K]For me, although I love the race itself, it's the alternative LM that brings the most joy:
- murdering your ears sat in the start/finishing line grandstand at dusk as the Corvettes and Astons hurtle past as you forgot the ear plugs
- Relieving oneself at the decrepit 1920's urinals behind start/finish like racing fans have since the early

There’s so much to do.....
We’ve down the Great British Welcome for the past few years, but will be doing the pit walk on Friday and having a mooch about in the village as we are track side this year.
Le Mans centre is worth a visit, but I’ve always thought that Arnage on a Friday afternoon/evening is better - it’s probably the only thing we do that’s written in stone, aside from Indy down to Arnage at night (which will never leave you as the atmosphere there is electric).
Where and when is the GBW and what goes on?We’ve down the Great British Welcome for the past few years, but will be doing the pit walk on Friday and having a mooch about in the village as we are track side this year.

Love Arnage, not been there at night though
The Great British Welcome or GBW is held every year at a small town/village north of le mans called St Saturin, it has benn going for quite a few years now and is a great way to spend Friday, plenty of old and new cars to look at, food and drink and always a featured Car, this year it is morgan, so expect several genuine le mans cars and hundreds of other morgan. Always loads of interesting old classic and often ones that you never see at british classic shows, Well worth attending and if you have an interesting car you may well get into the show rings so you will be part of it. It is free but the food, drinks and stalls raise money for the school and other charities
The Classic British Welcome https://www.classicbw.org/en/homepage/ is open to anything that turns up. It's a one way entry from the old route nationale just before you get to le Mans from the north. There's a guy who goes a gatekeeper job and if your car is good enough you get to drive in. Otherwise you are sent to the ordinary parking fields. There's a circle just inside the entrance that is meant for really interesting stuff but I once got ushered in there with my scruffy poverty pork 986!
A tip for when you want to leave is to not take the direct route back to Le Mans but to go right towards La Milesse rather than left, and explore the myriad back roads to the west of the city. Don't blame me if you get lost :-)

If you’ve signed up with PH and have your smiley pass you’ll be directed into the GBW and not the car parks. PH ‘parking’ is usually up
In the top field.
To clarify my earlier post.
Arnage ‘Village’ Centre at some point on the Friday afternoon or evening
Indianapolis/Arnage corners on Sat night/Sunday morning during the race.
You’ll never do everything that can be done at Le Mans....... the only way to overcome this is to keep going back

It's an event attended by people who are confused by capital letters and/or can't spell. It doesn't happen anywhere and nothing happens there. The Classic British Welcome on the other hand is an open, free event for people to show and see classic cars of any age (so a 2019 Lambo. would qualify for example) that takes place from 9am on Friday in the village of St Saturnin, just north of Le Mans.

Museum has been free for ticket holders for a few years now, so no excuse. Well worth a look especially if you have been going for over 30 years a you will see plenty of cars you will recognise
Our guys have had nothing but good things to say about it for a long time. Just never been able to go. Maybe this year, seeing as we're arriving Tuesday morning instead of night I might be set up a little early and have the energy to go on Wednesday morning Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
