looking at the 'who's on what crossing' thread.
Looks like I am the first arrival in to Mulsanne.
For those other camping there, do come over and say hi.
Look for the Cornish and Beermountain flags (sorry not got a PH flag!)

Its our first time camping there, after 10+ years of Blue Nord. Have you been there before and what is it like? We plan on getting their Wendesday lunch time.

On the Friday it will be Astons and Bentleys which will be the invited makes this year, but as always just turn up and park. It runs all dat until 4pm. If you want a good meal there is the golf club opposite and in Mulsanne itself (near the church - look for the spire) a pizza house par excellence (we usually share one!) and a bar doing steak and chips, omelettes etc. Also a big TV outside for the 24 hours and practice transmissions.

Not camped there but know people who do and walk past every year so some observations.
Pitches are not marked out so some big encampments tents, cars etc all marked out with post and tape.
Lots of campers take the same spot each year so you may find that you pinch someone’s spot
Some noisy areas music and fireworks
This is the area in the woods
But the same groups go back year after year

We will definitely come and say hi when we arrive on Tuesday.

If I remember correctly, we were camped next to you (and Mr Toad) last year? We arrived in a camper on the Monday and set up during a typical Le Mans rain shower! biglaugh

My first time there was last year, loved it. try to get into the old part, behind the corner. They opened up a big new area along the straight which does not look good

Last year was apparently quieter than previous years. Only heard fireworks on one night and security soon put a stop to it.
Yes, no marked pitches. We certainly were bigger than our allowance.
I'm hoping to be on the same spot as last year, as arriving on the Sunday I should be OK

Hi,
fab, be good to see you all again.
I could be on my own this year. Are you hoping to be in same spot?

Yes hoping to be around the same area. Proved to be a good spot last year.
Will see you there!

How does the Friday car display compare to St Saturnin? In particular, is access by car fairly simple, and are there reasonable catering outlets (e.g baguettes, beer)? We're not camping at Mulsanne, but considering calling in there around lunchtime before setting up camp (at Houx).

If you mean the display on the actual corner then it's nothing like as good as St Saturnin, but still worth a look.

I agree that the St.Saturnin show is the best, but the problem is that it is easy to arrive and park up but a nightmare to leave and get back to base. I used to be a member of the team but I dropped out when the manangement changed (nothing untoward there) and now go to Mulsanne each years because it is nearer and easy to park and leave.

They have reviewed the exit arrangements in the last 2 years thank god. And now allow you to turn right at the T junction at the top of the hill if you want allowing you to avoid the nonsense of getting out onto the D338 via the back road.So much better than it used to be.

Thanks all. Really helpful.

It’s novel for the fact you are parking up on the ‘circuit’.

Nice mix of cars and walking up and down is okay, not too crowded. Probably could do with better food, drink, toilets if you were planning on making a day of it.

Access is alright, keeps flowing.

After last 3 years though I’m heading back to St Sat for the morning. There is a bit of repetitiveness with the same cars from clubs going to mulsanne.

I don’t know why arnage do their thing on a Thursday. Must cut right down on visitors to it.

Not too much of an issue for me, I will be camped about a minute walk from it!

Try Tuesday. Every village is getting in on the act and Ruaudin (level with Family Village on the Mulsanne but to the east) have been doing their thing on the Tuesday for a few years.
The weather will have a big bearing this year too. As I write, it seems that rain may play a part every day for race week, and to be sure, with no real roof, my car will not come out to play. Those days are behind me now.
