If you are determined to take your own gear make sure any tent you get is suitable for motorbikes, because they will be smaller and more compact . x2fold up chairs behind the seats and fill up any other space with clothes etc. Everything else Carrefour will provide

Or get a caravan!

You'd get some great reactions on the Autoroute when people overtake the slow moving caravan...to find it being pulled by an R8 biggrin

Not for us this year, thought it was a good opportunity to try something else (Nurburgring 24hr perhaps) and back in 2021 for the Hypercars!

Hi Lemans, and everyone.

I'd like to go, for the first time, next year. I want to take my son with me in a 2 seater with not much storage space. An R8. So taking lots of stuff is a none starter. I'd like to stay somewhere closeish or on the track. Houx or Houx Annex praps? Although I signed up a few weeks ago to that teaser on here, I've not heard anything so far. So I'd very much welcome advice about where, how and when to book; about what you do to park; about what you absolutely must take with you, about trains, About everything. lol.

Any advice would be very welcome indeed. Thanks!

You can have a pre-erected tent on either of the secure PistonHeads campsites with our partner 1st Tickets. I'm sure they can support providing inflatable mattresses, pillows, sleeping bags, chairs etc if you're struggling for storage space in the R8! We get plenty of Caterhams etc for this reason.

Our packages will be on sale very soon but Brian and the team will happily answer any questions you have: https://1st-tickets.co.uk/ph/enquiriesph.html

All you'll need is clothes and some spending money. Other campsites/travel providers also available...

I’m a mere baby compared to others with it being my 8th consecutive year next time for the 24 but the first for the Classic (special permission gained for the “double”).

Booked the house we were in last year with the owner as we were leaving.

Looked at ferry prices today. Crikey theyve gone up 50% on what we booked last year - admittedly that was in August so a bit earlier but even so, its feeling rather expensive!

Ferry and campsite booked today smile Did Tribunes and other stuff last week. We are joining friends on the Portsmouth to Caen overnight out Wed/Thurs and back by Calais Dover as like the drive back to Calais and both ways on Brittany ferries a bit too dear.

Booked with Lycian inside the start of Porsche Curves as trackside and English beer & prices bar hard to beat. Roll on 4pm on the 13th June.

First time for us. Well I'm only 48.

Just booked PH blue nord private. Me and a mate in my car.

Started off with 10 wanting to go but 8 weasled out when the chips were down, so just 2 of us now. But im sure we'll have a blast.

Traffic down to le mans on friday is not to bad, but try to avoid rouen at lunchtime, once in lemans avoid town centre late afternoon and evening as it will be chaos with the parade. Sign posts to the campsites are OK but can take you the long way round, but if you do not know the way best follow the signs

The less the better in my opinion. Herding a crowd is difficult, and with all the socialising you dont get to follow the race. Somehow I've amassed 13 this year, its a lot of organising

Me and my mate want to go to LM for the last of the LMP1 races, 2020.
We have staying at the Thomas Cook site for the last couple of years.
I know Team Langoustine have that site now.
Suggestions on somewhere that equals the TC site?
Key points:
Location inside track.
Toilet/shower facilities.
Bar/entertainment.

TC really did tick all of these boxes. Hopefully, we can find somewhere similar?

Also, am considering the idea of either getting the train from the UK, or flying and then train. Anyone have experience of this?

Thanks in advance.

French railways are great....when they're not on strike over something, but it is do-able friends have done it easy enough.
The only downside is that you can't get much duty free

I took the train once, it was brilliant. Fly to Charles De Gaulle, walk down the stairs and onto the platforms to meet a direct train to Le Mans, then tram. Best journey I've done, but since then I bought a sports car, and aside from being able to bring all my gear more easily its the only excuse for having this car, and the only time it ever gets used!

I don't know where TC is, and though not my thing I found Lycian on Porsche Curves to be very good - the facilities and the way they managed it were 1st class, and I loved the view of the track.
Didn't like how far it was from the circuit but they do have a bus, and it did get us where we needed to go quite efficiently.

If I'm ever on my own again I will go back to Lycian, and I do recommend them.
