The French LM museum has a Mazda similar to above, assume they are different year cars.
I think the French one is the 1991 winning car.
I wouldn't bet your life savings on any of them being the actual winning car. I think the French one is the 1991 winning car.

Mazda keeps the winning car at the Mazda Museum in Hiroshima. At the same time, Mazda produced four replicas and gave one of them to the Le Mans Museum. The car usually makes appearances at the annual Sevenstock shows, and has made two appearances at the Monterey Historics event in 1999 and 2004 and still bears a pair of small oval racing stickers behind the side windows, referring to its appearance at the 1999 Goodwood Festival of Speed, when it was reunited with and driven by Gachot.
Some great looking cars in Tokyo. Many memories there.............
As to the Le Mans museum, it is common practice to use sister cars on exhibitions like this.........
For example the Bentley Speed 8 currently on display is not the 2003 winning car. Although it is one of the 11 chassis 004/4 never actually raced as there were issues when it was built. Nor would it have had a 3.6 litre engine as the stand declares........from 2002 the Bentleys had a 4.0 litre development of the original Audi V8.

I remember with great fondness the Lamborghini which appeared several times at Le Mans, run as a private entry from the Japanese Lamborghini Owners Club. Commonly knows as 'one-lap-Lambo' because it never seamed to reappear after the start lap.
It would have been nice to see that car with this group.

Someone posted on here a few months ago a picture of his "Holy Grail", the McLaren/Amon Ford GT MkII, which he'd taken in the Goodwood paddock at the FoS or Revival.
Unfortunately it wasn't even a MkII, just an 'ordinary' MkI with a few bodywork mods and a respray. But it had Goodwood stickers as mentioned above and could obviously fool the unwary.

Detective work time!
So i think i have seen 2 seperate 787Bs over the years and it would be interesting to know which one ran in 1991
Le Mans Museum 2019
Took this photo at Le Mans this year, notice that it doesn't have the Japanese flag above the CHARGE sponsors above the headlights.
Goodwood Festival of Speed 2015
Like the one you have pictured , this one does have the Japanese Flag.
This one also ran up the hill that year so can confirm it does indeed run.
Interesting that in your pictures it does not seem to have the same front wheels.
(In fact you can even see its Goodwood Hillclimb roundels in your picture!)
If i were to take a guess , i'd say this car you have photographed is more likely to be the original as it actually runs.

Ah, the JLOC. I too remember having to make a special effort to watch for it cross the start line on Saturday...because you might miss it if you waited till the end of lap 1. Remember the RLM team grumbling about why the ACO kept giving them a grid slot when they never got anywhere and were just in it so they could sell the car as "Raced at Le Mans". Also remember a year when the race car broke I think a wishbone in practice/qually, didn't have any spares so found a friendly at-circuit owner and robbed one off his road car... And think, a team that professional and prepaired never managed to go the distance It would have been nice to see that car with this group.

also the exhibiton was by Toyota, (held at toyota during le mans week) with input from Honda/Nissan etc
so i assumed it was the actual car.
i have alot of pictures of this example to share if needed from different angles, above were just phone pics
good work on the research
I visited this museum in 2012, was not as great as this time by the look of it. I remember a Toyota LM car being dumped outside in the open area outside the windows. Was alos noticeable there was a café there at the time apparently owned by Alassanndro Nannini- bizzarly.

That GT-1 (TS020) is IMHO one of the best looking Le Mans cars ever.Edited by eastlmark on Monday 29th July 08:53
Nannini's coffee shops started in Siena (there's one just off the main square, Piazza del Campo), started by his forefathers I believe.
