I had the email through this morning to alert ACO members that tickets go on sale in a month.

Other than the usual 2x T18 tickets, anyone know if they’ve imposed other ticket restrictions this year? I thought I read somewhere that they had, but can’t find it.

The ACO membership is changing, with several new options, the cheapest, 60 euro's i think, allows you only 2 reduced tickets but the reduction is 40%, whilst if you retain your old membership and pay the old 109 euro's you still get the old 6 tickets at 25% discount and 2 discounted camping tickets, not sure about T17/18 allocation but think you might not get the same deal if you have the new cheap membership. However all members get the early chance of tickets in 30 days.

Thanks - I renewed at LM at the same rate as last year, so that sounds OK for this year.

What campsites does that get you in?

If you are one of the first or a long time regular customer you will get what you want, however you will not always get the most popular sites, like tertre rouge, houx or maison blanche as these have often sold out to agencies.

If six of us go in my camper to bsj every year is it worth joining for the discounts?

As long as they all agree to share the cost. The savings on 6 tickets saves you more than the cost of membership plus savings on camping tickets and free programme add to the saving. Even if you get the 60 euro option the 40% saving on 2 tickets saves you more than the cost.

So all six of us get the benefit of the cheaper GE tickets but I get the other privileges, would it be better if 3 of us got the 60 Euro option or is the cheaper tickets the only benefit you get with that.

To be honest if 3 get the aco discounts and then they can access the area's like the one at the dunlop bridge it might be better, the other 3 can for an additional cost also get access. They can then use the ACO building in the stands and the showers/loos there. Plus unsure the 109 option is still available unless you are already an ACO member.

I just renewed and didn’t see any 60€ option on the list. I do recall reading about a new structure for memberships, but it never appeared on the list of options I had.

The 60€ option probably would have suited me this time around.

Going to get tickets, but it’s up in the air whether I head back to the 24hrs next year. Maybe a break, but i did want to rack up 20 in a row before a break, so need ‘20, ‘21 and ‘22. I can always sell the tickets nearer the time if I don’t go.

Would there be any benefit form purchasing a larger volume of GE tickets? I need 4 GE tickets this year and have always bought through one of the travel companies, who put a decent mark up on them in my opinion.

Or is it a fixed no./ limit that you can purchase?

For the €60 membership you can purchase 2 cheap admission tickets (-40%). If you're buying camping passes from a travel company most insist on you buying a minimum of 2 admission tickets per camping plot and yes they'll be marked up massively! mad

Yes, this is the reason i asked. Normally the travel firm i use (not naming any names) insist you buy 2 tickets per plot but this year, assuming that they are expecting sales to be down (?) when i said i want 2 plots and just 2 GE tickets they said ok, so long as i paid £15 each as admin charge for not taking the other 2 tickets normally required. I assume £15 is the mark up they apply to each GE ticket sold.

I figured as i actually need another 4 GE tickets, 6 in total for 2020, i am better off buying 4 on the gate at face value as it’s better off.

I guess i should just bite the bullet and join the ACO but i’ve never really been certain about the process and how you then buy your tickets/campsite plots through them.

Can anyone explain how it work in really straight forward terms? Like an ACO ticket process for dummies as even the above bit about level of membership confused me

The ACO has changed membership this year but in practice it appears you can still get the old 109 membership or the new one for 60 euro's.
Discounted tickets are 2 race tickets at 40% for the 60 membership or 6 at 25% with the 109 one.
The old membership also gives you discount on 2 camping tickets and i think 2 grandstand ones, plus discounts on the classic tickets.
The discounts are available if you book through the ACO, the tourist office or buy at the gate, but camping tickets for the better sites are not easy to get as they sell out fast. The 2020 tickets are available for members from tomorrow or for non members a few days later. If your group are happy to divide all the costs then obviously the organisers get ACO membership, with this you get access to certain area's, a pack of goodies at the circuit including a programme.Plus a full results pack and another programme later in the year.

I understand that with the new ACO 60 membership you don't actually get access to certain area's during the 24 hours weekend, you actually have the option to pay a further €15 to get access and up to 3 friends can pay €20 each to come in with you. This is why it's so much cheaper. You pay the original €60 then add on anything else you want.

Also it appears that you still get the camping and grandstand discounts with the 60 membership.

If I can find the page that explains it I'll add it on for everyone to see but as usual it was difficult to find the information! smile

Here's the page that actually explains how the €60 ACO membership works (to a certain extent biggrin )

I dont see how I can get the old membership, and they seem to want 109 for the new membership which offers all manner of things I dont want!

Guess I need to call them tomorrow.
