Seen the ACO announcement and booked a hotel straight away in Arnage for £216 for me and my boy

Just had an email from them requesting me to cancel the booking

Looks like they wasn't on the mark with the new date

Was via Booking.com so will have to watch this space if they try and enforce the cancellation and readvertise the room at what others are asking for now at a significant higher price

Yep that's what I thought I have looked at other hotels and they have caught onto the new dates now and the prices reflect this

Amazing ain't it? Last year seems like an age ago...a different time..the peak:

IoM TT
LM24
N24
LM Truck Races
Nurburgring Track Days

All of the above not even 1 year ago.

Talking here with Fred, gt and wsn about 2020 and then BOOM...everything is screwed!

It sucks...big time!

Well Moto 24 has moved again, brought forward a week to give the ACO more time to organise the car race.
Im happy with that, 3 week gap gives me 2.5 weeks between races- the drive back down won't seem so long now. Sorry for the person who's Airbnb I just nabbed right by the circuit...joys of working from home - thanks leyorkie for the quick heads up!

Do the moto 24, its really good...coming from a road racing nut - the atmosphere and the closeness of the race

i cannot honestly believe that some people think that this will take place even in september.. there is zero chance.. absolutely zero..
this going get far far worse before it gets better.. , even if it did stabilised in 4 weeks, (very very unlikely) its still going to continue at that level until a vacine is established which is a year at best before it is available through out society,
Country isolation will go on for months and months.. your world is changing around you, you need to adapt to it. prepare yourself for whats comming, and sadly that is not by booking a hotel for a non event in September

Although I suspect that for a lot of events them saying it is just postponed saves them having to refund people just yet.

(See also, this past weekend's association football matches, I had a ticket for Saints vs Norwich and they said straightaway 'no refunds until it is rescheduled')

Whilst having my daily stroll around the neighbourhood in lieu of catching the train to work, I had the thought of having a 'Le Mans 24hr and Classic double header', have the 2 events on consecutive weekends and get us punters hanging around town and spending money for longer than originally planned, maybe even have the practice day bundled in as well.
I had a quick thought about it too but if you look at paddock layouts fuelling and so on the logistical side is all skewed to hell. Nice thought though

The obvious solution is to run the 24 and the Classic at the same time, with the Classic pits at Maison Blanche, and a prize for the highest speed differential on the Mulsanne smile

I think this situation is most likely. But whilst it costs me nothing to make the sept plans, it’s all lined up just in case. Can only hope for normality in sept, even if it is just wishful thinking.

Chuckled the other day, saw this at a local garage.. thought it would be perfect post covid-19 wasteland vehicle, out hunting for loo roll!

I, for reasons well known, haven't said I was on holiday but in a few hours will be home at Le Mans. But friends have been emailing me, many very worried as to their future. Le Mans lives on the profit of the events here and this year there won't be any. I honestly don't think that trying to hold all the events in one month just can't work. I don't even think it will be safe to run them. Will all the marshals come? Will many entrants abandon? So many questions.

There's only one thing you can be certain about. Everything is so uncertain, anything can happen, and I'm very pessimistic by profession

For the first time in more than 20 years I will be giving Le Mans a miss. I've thought about transferring my booking to September but concluded, albeit reluctantly, to ask for my ticket money to be refunded. It's absolutely hopeless trying to get through to Brittany about my booking although I realise they've been swamped with calls & emails. I've emailed them and tried phoning to no avail. I've certainly kept a full record and assume I will get all but my deposit back eventually. A good job I have done all the booking on my Visa card, a useful last resort for a refund if Brittany and the ACO don't play ball. If, by some miracle, the event goes ahead in September I will try to get there.

There's no point in making a decision now. We could all be dead by July, or it may run out of steam by June. Either way I'm running short of booze and toilet paper, and the ferry boats are being beached. I've had to let the cleaner go. This needs stamina.
