It's postponed!

That could explain why I'm not so keen! but I see this one was during the race, which is good but needs complications like booking, and a long walk to the helipad
TBH, I didn't know where to start for the chopper ride. I was told the price via Beermountain but how to book seemed a bit of a mystery. wsn03 said:
Wonder if we'll get a race that's open to the public? Im booked for moto 24, done nothing for Le Mans car race but I'll definitely go, the other 8 or 9 in our group say they'll wait til next June.
Damn it damn it damn it.The missus doesn't want me to go until there's a vaccine. We know of a couple of people who the virus has killed, Asians, and as she's Asian and we have my 67 yr old Mother in law with us she doesn't want me to risk it. She has pointed out that she never objects to my many racing trips so I don't really have a leg to stand on.
Obviously divorce is an option, or I could try something more sinister but the garden would be hard to dig a hole in being so dry.

It's not all doom and gloom, the rain today will make the digging easier! The missus doesn't want me to go until there's a vaccine. I think we both (the missus and I) know that I'll end up going anyway - Mon may just have to be a necessary sacrifice for a very good cause

Its not a question of whether you go, its a question of whether you come back I think we have to give up on this year, (closed doors perhaps) but next years should be a runner, as they've just discovered that Nurofen is the cure, and that's first course for breakfast
But the other day I did go outdoors for the first time in 3 months

Asked him why he moved to the Isle of Man, and he said "as I was leaving to go to the TT, my very angry wife shouted at me "if you go to those bloody races don't ever step foot in this house again"...and with a slight sigh he followed with the words "I miss her sometimes, and of course the kids....." . He was dead serious, unreal.
I think I could move to the outskirts of Le Mans, the only problem is planning for Le Mans would be a bit crap - 1. Leave front door, turn left 2. Errr..watch race 3.More croissants?
Lock down has put me off drinking, and rushing around...my next Le Mans will involve having a clear head for at least 2 evenings (possibly)
Ok bit of news from my mate whose son is racing in a Moto 24 factory team - what he was told, not sure of its accuracy:
Apparently the only reason Moto 24 is without spectators is because it is right at the end of the crowd rules that expire in beginning of September - if they don't get extended it is thought the car race will run with some sort of controlled organisation for spectators.
The real reason he said the bike race is being run when it is is not because they need time to prepare for the car race, but because the Bol D'Or 24 hour is only 3 weeks later (bike endurance racing's big one) - had they stuck to first week in September all the teams were complaining it didn't give them enough recovery/ preparation time.
I'm definitely up for the race if its in September

If the race is on I’ll see you for a beer at the Arbor. Spectators or not a few of us are going anyway.
Was thinking the same but wasn't sure if we could mention it on here - however despite numerous comments it is still the most over looked venue of the event, quiet in normal times, social distancing would be easy.If no crowds are allowed at the stadium I will look for accommodation in the village by Arbor, if not i will probably stay Tetre Rouge and do my usual spots...finishing on Sunday at Arbor...where i look for to meeting you.
And then I'll see you for a beer at the Ibis in Boulogne sur mer on the way home.

I'm just not sure, I can't see how they can run it with the normal crowd rules the risks would be huge.
So how do they restrict it? It has to be all or nothing, I suspect the latter (sadly).
The law in France (I think) says that gatherings are allowed of up to 5000 people, at the moment. Maybe they were seeing how popular the September race might be by getting tickets returned. Maybe close grandstands, or limit the numbers if enough tickets are returned. Parking would be ok, camping could be self regulated. Have it advance ticket only, so no sales on the day. Also depends on rules for travel, rules for social distancing as I'll be sharing a car, which at the moment we can't do. France at the moment is green (I think) except Paris which is orange. This is still a long way off - trying to keep positive. So how do they restrict it? It has to be all or nothing, I suspect the latter (sadly).

We have another show stopper at the moment, 14 day quarantine rule in both countries - not worried about locking down in UK, but in France means we can't even watch the race, let alone stay in any hotels etc.
The speed at which the world is trying to return to normal gives me a little bit of hope.
I need this race more than any other, for my wife has implemented her own lock down rules, meaning I have to isolate 7 days in the UK before I can come home. F me, this is like Le Mans followed by Christmas, I can't believe my luck, I can be miserable on my own without having to pretend to be happy to be back.
My mate who was coming to the Moto 24 is up for this trip, and he lives alone, so a week in his place after the race - it just doesn't get any better. Really hoping this goes ahead
