Ignoring the above inflammatory remark shall we move onto something a bit more positive? In the square in front of the cathedral where the scrutineering usually takes place there was a big bar/restaurant on the left as you look at the cathedral. It has had a chequered history and was closed for some time. It reopened today.

Is that the one with the only toilet which has a urinal and throne in the same room? As in both together, so can be some what awkward when there’s a queue of folk and they go in 2 at a time.

Is that the one that appears as a flower shop in the opening scene of Steve McQueens Le Mans Film?

Next time I get information about Le Mans that I have heard from the ACO never mind in future I will keep it to myself!

Dear God! Can you not discuss without getting your arse in your hand?

Lowdrag lives at Mulsanne (mostly) and generally his information is correct. However, we are still two months away, not need to get all 'keyboard warrior' and insulting.

I don't need defending Tyre Smoke, but thank you anyway. I live here permanently, and have done for 20 years, so I do think that I am somewhat au fait with what is going on. That doesn't stop other people from knowing more than me of course, but that is pretty usual here these days. Pistonheads has changed a lot over the years, the people who were here, like me, have aged, and the newer generation has taken over. Not, sadly, for the best sometimes I feel. One only has to look at the Classic forum to see how it is these days.

We met once a few years back in Mulsanne. Not getting all bristly and defensive on your behalf, but having the ability to get info from the horse's mouth so to speak, I'll wait and hear what you have to say after the weekend.

Everyone is on here because we are all a bit depraved obsessives about Le Mans, and everyone on here gets on very well bar the odd hungover snap (guilty, sorrylaugh).

I think we all know this year is going to be pretty crap compared to normal, and we're all very anxious we might not even get to see the race.

No one needs to fall out. Every bit of info on here is always interesting reading whatever it is...just carry on as normal please chaps, without this forum I'd suffer a bit for sure.

Had a long chat with a restaurateur yesterday and he was very downbeat. Like all the tourist trade, he relies on footfall, and this year there has been zero, zilch, nada. With the race put back to September, the ACO will probably have difficulty finding students to fill the nearly 1,000 jobs for the race, such as directions, parking, paddock security and all the other little things we take for granted. And many of the marshals are not coming either. My local bar/restaurant told me that they are not doing anything because they don't know how many people are coming, or even whether the return of Covid will mean that at the last minute it will be held behind closed doors. As you can gather, people are very negative about things and cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just think on what has been lost already this year. 24 Hour Motor bike, (will now be held but behind closed doors) 24 Hours Trucks, Le Mans Classic, Moto GP, and then there are all the other events that people don't think of. Barely a day goes by that I don't hear the roar of engines from the circuit, but this year silence. Even though the circuit has been reopened I don't hear anything. Many shops closed during lockdown and are not reopening.
Didn't realise people were that downbeat over there. Just been into the normally bustling Leamington Spa- bloody hell it's a ghost town, so many shops and restaurants closed down permanently. What a mess.

We'll get through it slowly and the world will return to normal, but it's going to be interesting to see how they manage to run the race. My expectations are set low so that I won't be dissapointed- least I'll get a few days away from the kids!

For goodness sake just calm down! All we want - collectively - is the real truth as to what is happening. Perhaps the translation of the french version came out badly in the email - which I haven't seen but would be grateful if you would publish. Perhaps it was a mistake, which is what I believe, and personally I am convinced that the camp sites will be open Sunday. We shall see, but falling out over a silly difference is really stupid. Pride comes before a fall.

I don't see any translation problems in this statement written in English.

I for one apologise to gt6 who obviously had his own reasons for how he posted the info here. However, I do appreciate gt6's previous info and experience which I have found to be invaluable.

Also, a thanks to chasingracecars for the email he posted up which has helped my group come up with a plan B. I extend the same thanks to Fred and Vince too.

The whole thing was just a bit of lively debate and typical LM st-talk.

Cheers to you all!
