I for one apologise to gt6 who obviously had his own reasons for how he posted the info here. However, I do appreciate gt6's previous info and experience which I have found to be invaluable.
Also, a thanks to chasingracecars for the email he posted up which has helped my group come up with a plan B. I extend the same thanks to Fred and Vince too.
The whole thing was just a bit of lively debate and typical LM st-talk.
Cheers to you all!
I appreciate that, lets hope we all get on better in September, i suspect we may share a beer or two in Tertre Rouge. As said we are all getting frustrated and anxious, but booked tunnel today so ever optimistic. Also, a thanks to chasingracecars for the email he posted up which has helped my group come up with a plan B. This is downright scaremongering but - I came past the Tertre Rouge bar yesterday and it had that kinda "abandoned" look. You know, shutters down etc. I shall investigate, so hold your breath. Could just be holidays of course.
There's a bar at the bottom of the steep ramp from the roundabout- is that the Tetre Rouge bar (on Chemin au Bouef)?Yep, in the car park of the MM Arena on Tuesday morning, waiting for the gates for Houx and the Annexe to open.
I could have a decent sideline going in charging phones, and providing hot food and cold beers.
Or more likely we'll turn up and watch the race and report back on Monday/Tuesday "well that was a bit crap wasn't it?"

No, it's the one on the outside of the circuit just off the roundabout on the left as you head down the Mulsanne before you pass the MM Arena.
I think you're both talking about the same place, from different angles. I'll have no truck with farcebook, but their bookface page says they'll be open again on 24th August, if my schoolboy french hasn't deserted me!

Same ruddy bar! Coming out of town you arrive at the roundabout at Tertre Rouge. You turn left and immediately right downhill for 30 metres. The bar is on the right of you. Wwsn was right all along. In all the years i have been going down to le mans i have only visited the bar twice, and both of those were a few years ago now. keep meaning to go but never seem to make it out of the campsite or down to the corner without getting waylaid by an old friend or even someone i have never met before. daughter then moans when i get back that i have been drinking. Nothing changes.

You might not believe it but the bar at Mulsanne (for those directionally challenged go down the Mulsanne, straight on at the roundabout, and another 500 yds on the left) broke its record last years and served 147 lunches in one day. Good food too, and unlimited starter buffet, all for not much over £10. Oh, including a small carafe of wine. It's called the Boule d'Or.
