Seeing this thread pop up again made me think. The non-event will be over in two weeks. Just like the bike race was a week ago. It does seem so strange here. I must take a photo of the new Mulsanne bend all dressed up for you too.
Have you been through Arnage village recently?, massive changes to the road layout Traffic Calming and parking. It’s going to look very different when finished

Having moved my ferry booking from June to September, the French quarantine has helped me postpone it further to next June. Surprisingly, ferries for next June are on the website already - its usually Christmas, so book now wink

DFDS processed it quickly, and there's no extra charge

It must be bad karma to wish for a bit of rain to liven things up a bit whilst we're all sat indoors in the dry watching on the telly.

Not sure wishing for rain will liven things up... if it’s heavy they’ll sit behind safety cars for long periods of time.

(Whereas, I think they should be able to adapt the cars and get on with it.. unless it is monsoon type conditions)

Sunrise 7.30, sunset 2030 give 11 hours of darkness, plus the twilight and daybreak difficult times. With some very tired eyes and reactions. It may not be the best race, but it will be one of the toughest.

BBC weather says no rain on Saturday, and a chance at 3pm Sunday. This comes from Meteo France. I suspect it proves that weather forecasts are rubbish.

The longer and colder night will affect tyre choice and life, and ventilation for the driver and engine. They'll probably use Silverstone settings if the weather looks really bad

An accurate forecast is about 3 days.

My cousin who has lived in Monaco/France for over 25 years, says that Meteo France is always very 'negative' in their forecasts... because who will complain if the weather is better that forecast when the oppiste is deffo not the case

Nice try, but after 20 years in France they are about as accurate as the BBC or whoever. Yes, we get the "possible storms" from time to time, and often the "rare showers", which cover most things, but in the main they are OK

Just watched news, seems tour de France has its own share of Covid and France now past its previous peak.

Any risk of Le Mans being cancelled?

We have to hope that the ACO have been working with the local and national government to ensure that by going to a closed doors event they will be allowed to run the event.

Even the latest UK rules have plenty of exceptions for 'work' and sporting events if efforts have been made to keep participants safe.

I don't think we can compare LM to the TdF either, as that goes through public areas and the riders are in close proximity rather than LM drivers/teams are in their own garages and cars at a venue on the outskirts of town.

I bet there'll be a few drivers lurking near the circuit in case of covid substitutions being needed

Whatever happens will im sure be followed by a full on lockdown. As i thought back in the summer, everyone will run for the hills once its finished. Even here in the UK im sure we'll be back to staring out the window again

Perspective though... 4 people in the entire tour entourage. No riders.

The general situation in France isn’t good, but if things like the tour continue then I don’t see how the race would be cancelled.

I can’t find the source, but the intensive care cases now seem to be increasing In France on top of the infection rate. This is the thing that will bring things to a halt.

I hear you.
However...4 people may have spread to God knows how many not yet showing symptoms.

The problem with this virus is people carrying and spreading it before realising they actually have it. Testing doesn't seem that consistent.

Im amazed at how its gone from kind of sorted to massive problem again so quickly.
