What are peoples thoughts?

In my mind obstacles are:

Will aco allow spectators, and if so Uk fans?
Will France let Uk in?
Will Boris give in to Starmer and scrap colour coded list?
Will Boris allow us to go to France?
Will we have to self isolate on return?

My own view is that it will all be good, but when to book might be hard to judge!

I think France will let Brits in, and we won't need to self-isolate when we get back.

BUT

I honestly can't see the ACO allowing anything like the normal amount of punters; if they can only have (say) 10,000 people then they'll presumably prioritize VIPs, the teams & suppliers, the press ... and the left over allocation of tickets would go to people who don't need to travel too far to get there.

Anyway, we'll find out end of April. Sorry, May. Maybe June...

Once again, let me remind you that when the holiday season starts on July 1st, Macron has decided that Covid will cease activity until the holiday season is over. So as from that date, you can come as go as you please and no restrictions on crowd size. Boris, however, may have other ideas.

Thanks all for clarifying status of our 2020 tickets. ACO responded to my email and sent me the voucher within a couple of hours. It actually has a use by date of 31 May but they did clarify it could be used when/if they release ticket sales

That's interesting I had an email from them today saying when the voucher expires on June 1st they will automatically refund me.

The original email I got back in August said it will refund if not used by May 31st. I would expect them to provide details of what tickets can be bought prior to this date as they wouldn't want to go refunding cash to thousands of people if they could help it. If they can sell "tickets" using the cash in the bank and then roll these to next year if it cancels again, they've not spent out a penny.

Hope this helps someone

I've spoken to Eurotunnel and had my voucher rolled on for another year, very easy process.

Spoken with the ACO and an automatic full refund of the Grandstands and Tickets to be made on the 1st June.

Spoken with Motorsporttickets who I purchased the campsite through and they are also making a full refund in the next few days.

Roll on 2022 although 2023 seems to be the year to go.

I received the same email, it is from the official ACO email account BTW...

The key point will be what their refund policy will be - I suspect they won't want to sell thousands of tickets to people who might cancel at the last minute if some new travel rules come into force in the week before the race.

Personally I find it baffling that anyone is prepared to make plans to travel to France while the whole situation regarding the pandemic is so volatile. But each to his or her own on this - we each have to consider the risks affecting us and how it might effect us. I've had both my 'jabs' some time ago as a 70+ older person so don't personally consider myself greatly at risk. And as someone who until last test year had been attending Le Mans for more than 20+ years I want to travel as much as anyone. But I certainly don't want to risk being quarantined while the situation is as fluid as it is at the moment.

Indeed. But one needs to remain optimistic that some normal activities might take place this summer for reasons of morale, otherwise there might be the temptation to go to the top of a tall building and toss one's self off.

I guess the issue is that many of us will have had both vaccines by the time the race is due to happen. However the vaccines dont necessarily prevent you catching Covid by are very good at limiting the symptoms if you do. If the French havent vaccinated as many people then there is a risk that visitors from Britain take it even in a weakened form as they have been vaccinated and spread it in an unvaccinated population.

I certainly wont be going to the race if I have to quarantine. With tickets going on sale in 2 weeks time it seems unlikely that the quarantine rules here or there will have changed so I will not be booking. Its likely that rules will have changed by August but its a gamble I wont be taking.

I have though renewed my ACO membership. Fairly sure that the 60 euro deal is significantly poorer than the old deal used to be, and will cause problems in 2022 if loads of people sign up to it, as the ACo members facilities will be overwhelmed!

BUT -

However, France had planned to allow fully vaccinated travellers from the UK - or those who had tested negative - to visit from 9 June.

Presumably quarantine sausage side is a big issue for teams too
For me ticket sales and on what basis on 10 June will be the deciding factor. If attendance limited I would be inclined to apply my voucher and buy in the hope their is no quarantine etc. But I guess that means the full refund option is gone if we repurchase but then decide not to go because of the surrounding complications. Could get better or worse or both in the meantime but the race is only 12 weeks away!
