With situation in August unclear, low vaccine rate in France, quarantining in place at time of buying tickets, rubbish ferry options locally.... seals it for not attending this year. Sad but resigned to it.

Will allow vouchers to refund. Perhaps look at things closer to the race if situation different and still able to buy tickets.

2022 going to be good if back to normal.

Edit 28/05/21.... Ferry cancelled and refunded.

Still too early to tell.

I reckon it's still 50:50 or maybe 55:45 unlikely to allow non-EU citizens to attend.

I've just applied for the refund option via the email Brittany ferries sent today after the Portsmouth - Caen/Ouistreham
on the 10th June 2021 was cancelled by them . I used the last year voucher to rebook this year but part of the group can't even make the August date even if it did go ahead this year , so i'm glad i didn't amend it now to August, Think we'll wait until 2023 now .

I got the email cancelation also this morning, I'll call them in a few days and see if I can get another voucher as I'm still keeping fingers crossed for August.

My view is this; if I can get a couple of tickets for this year I will and risk the fact I can’t make it due to travel restrictions. If I can’t get tickets but can travel I will still go and watch from the areas one can. If I can’t get tickets and I can’t travel reasonably I’ll sulk like mad! I have cold turkey from missing my annual track to France

The Times is reporting that the French gov is to allow fully vaccinated travellers from the UK to enter France from next week...

Which is true, but as France is on our Amber list it would mean you could only go there for 'essential reasons'.. Just hope it can get on the Green list soon otherwise LM2021 may well go the same way as 2020 for UK residents.

Attending Le Mans is a compelling reason.

I just wish the ACO would hurry up and make up their mind whether we can go or not!

Rubbish.

There is nothing stopping you from going to any country in the world for no other reason than you want to. It's the ridiculous hoops you have to jump through if you want to return to the UK is the problem.

I think the decision, IIRC, is to be announced on the 16th. I read it in yesterday's paper but I just hope I've got it right! But that still doesn't alter the problem of confinement. If I go to the UK as things stand, I have 10 days when I land and another seven when I come back.

Well that’s the 1st June gone. Has anyone had the credit card refunded yet? Credit note was supposed to last until the 1st - then auto refund. I’ve not seen my money back yet.

Nothing as yet. I am under the impression from previous correspondence that it should be automatic. Will keep an eye on it.

That was never going to happen…

In these provincial towns, its about a decade - I think they call it "Temps de l'île de Wight" biglaugh

I've asked for my ferry to be moved to next year, as I can't leave the UK or enter France at the moment. I didn't move it to August as the spectator part is uncertain, but I may not be able to postpone it again if travel is permitted

In today's paper the requirement to wear a mask in public has been extended to the 30th June. A fine of €135 if caught without one.

Is that just expecting the stereotypical French admin delays or based on other info?

I believe the credit notes are controlled under French law when they switched to that option.

I enquired. Been sent a form to fill in to apply for a refund. As suggested above - the original booking hinted at auto refund after 1st June. This looks not to be correct. I’ll fill in the refund forms later and post on here about the process.
