Well, if any of you count of having the guest of marshals tickets you are out of luck it seems. We've had them for years, the same band of friends, and this year none will be forthcoming so while I can open the window and hear the race I shall be going nowhere near the circuit.

The marshals rota has been issued. The Sunday practice day will now end at 9pm it seems, so most dark at the end. The rota for the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday is ludicrous, with marshals on post from 7am to midnight. Really? When do they get time to go shopping? There is of course great need for marshals especially with the five hours of Beetles waddling round the circuit. As regards the actual race (I think there still is one) what kind of state are the marshals going to be in when it starts, let alone when it finishes? To save you looking it up the figures are, rounded off, sunrise at 7am and sunset at 9.15 pm.

Christ on a bike! Are they seriously expecting that from volunteers?

I know it's a legendary race, I know that usually marshals are not a problem, but the ACO is royally taking them for granted this year.

It isn't, as I understand "getting in" at all. I think it is cars parked up in the town square, that's all. I'll be there, weather permitting, with the XKSS if anyone wants to say hello, but I probably won't stay long. Static events bore me these days, but I have been asked to make an appearance. Around 11am I expect.
So I am not going to recommend it at all to the danes on their main FB group or put the event on my guide??? Ideas?

All other events such as St Saturnin have been cancelled long ago, Moncé en Belin got cold feet a week back, and this is all there is. I can suggest a meet-up for lunch if you will, but I have no idea what is going on at the Stella bar or elsewhere come to that. So many bars have opted out and are not bothering, because if they set up shop and no one comes they will lose a fortune in beer not drunk and food not sold, let alone the part-time salaries of waiter etc.

If you want, I can set up a meet at a restaurant I know at the circuit, but I need to know soon to check if even he is running a show,

We normally go to an awful hotel for awful food not next to Mulsanne straight on Saturday night. We understand that they are not doing the awful foot but we are still planning on a couple of beers around twilight as we are partial to it’s awful location.

Dreadful place… and terrible views of the circuit whilst I think of it. I only go to see who else is having an awful time.

And if I am right (which I usually am not) not far from a little supermarket and the golf course? While writing, as of 0900, only two marshals are definitely confirmed tomorrow for one post.

FYI

just received from Brittany ferries

Covid measures required to enter France have changed. ALL passengers aged 12 years or over (including those who are travelling with vaccinated adults) must provide, prior to embarkation, either proof of being fully vaccinated or a negative PCR or antigen test result taken no more than 24 hours before departure time. Children aged below 12 years are exempt from testing. The requirements are specific and we recommend you research them thoroughly, before you travel. NHS tests will not be accepted. Further information can be found on uk.ambafrance.org/COVID-19-rules-for-travel-to-France-and-the-UK

Nah. More cheesed off T then putting messages saying things have changed when they have not.

P&O have been sending emails out also with incorrect guidance.

Good luck for those heading off to Le Mans next week. Sadly I’m not going this year. I hope it’s as good as it can be. I’ll be there next year, hopefully with an even bigger set of hypercars. I will be watching from home again this year with a stubby and some French food!

Just a reminder that the only "entertainment" this week is the car meet at Arnage, town square. I'll be there about 11am I guess. Hope to see a few of you.

Just watching on Eurosport. Are the practice sessions behind closed doors?
