This news surprises me, I always assumed that the circuit was a massive cash cow for the ACO, not having a Bernie or Liberty skimming the takings each year.

The new pits complex is obviously a massive commitment.

Which news?

The news must be on another thread or the ACO website, but there are great plans for a new pits complex and a few other things, that have been put on hold. At the minute, they're digging big holes for a storm drainage system - big pipes and big underground tanks. Not really of much use during the average June. Plus some street lights at Mulsanne Corner. The ACO seem to have quite a few million to invest every year, except this year weeping

I like to think that they'll wait till Christmas to see if a vaccine arrives, and go from there
Its starting to warm up, with announcements like the test day/calendar. My ferry for 2021 is at 2019 pricescool

Looking at the vaccine rollout plans i can't imagine a June race is likely in 2021...and that is a very depressing thought. However, by September as things stand life should be on the path to normal, even with new mutations thrown in.

Does France have as aggressive a vaccine rollout plan as the UK? That will ultimately determine everything I would presume.

First mention I’ve seen of 2021 ticket sales.

Heads up if membership has expired for early access.

I’m undecided on my 2021 attendance. I don’t think there will be normality by June. Could possibly skip another year and get back in ‘22. Updated membership to keep options open and sat on the vouchers from last years tickets.

Will probably book the air b&b just in case. Can always cancel nearer the time.

I'd be amazed if it ran on the traditional June date, but fingers crossed that it does (for many reasons..).

I'm starting to think that way. There's delays in the production of the vaccines, plus confusion as its all changing too quickly. I hope most of us will have been vaccinated by June, but there won't be the "All Clear" signal by then.

The ACO must be polishing their crystal ball - is it saying Go For June/Septembers A Better Bet/Forget It? I suspect they'll wait till vaccine programs are established, probably a month

I read earlier today that the Australian Grand Prix is looking unlikely or to be delayed.

A decision on the first round of the WEC at Sebring will have to be made very soon, that could be an opportunity to look at the rest of the schedule

WEC's issue this season is that they have committed to sea freight for all rounds (and the entrants and their fees have been budgeted as such) rather than a mix of sea and air as previous seasons.

Yes, they can switch to air, but somebody is going to have to foot the bill...

So far only 352 vaccinated in France according to the news, compared to tens of thousands in Germany - both started at the same time.

At this rate France wont be in a position to hold a full blown Le Mans this year.

Im guessing a move to September with some crowd control and restriction of movement, normal service 2022.

Most of my group have pulled out leaving just 4 of us for 2021

My thoughts are that 2020 is looking doubtful but our lot of about 10 are still on for whenever it does occur.

For the first time I am looking forward to the vaccination as I don’t think normal mitigation will be enough for a large event. I also think the government are missing a trick in not giving out vaccine passports as going foreword countries and events are going to need it as proof to allow entry

I thought the same as you, however my sister gave me a different perspective.
She lives in the Isle of Man where they have no Covid. They have blocked entry to the Island, and cancelled the 2021 TT races.
The word over there is that everything will change not when people come over with proof of vaccines, but when the population of the Island has had its own vaccination.

Basically if the locals are vaccinated they can't die from it, so that is when they deem everything as safe. You being vaccinated makes no difference to them as far as the current way of thinking goes, so I'm told. Sort of makes sense, I believe a vaccinated person can still help to spread it, so until your people are vaccinated you are not safe

On that basis, and looking at the current clusterf**eck that is the French vaccine rollout, I'd guess 2020 is going to be a bit of a muted affair.
However, as they ran it with virus in flow in 2020, I cannot believe they'd cancel it with a vaccine in full roll out in 2021, wouldn't make sense to me. I'd run it with zones and social distancing etc if it were me (being desperate for revenue as I'm sure they are)

Wise words

We still need shed loads of vaccine. 562 isn't enough, it needs over 2,000,000 a week - all hands to the pumps

Can’t help but agree with you on all of that, my reticence is the French aversion to vaccinations and hence looking to secure and mitigate myself as much a possible.

The French are not keen on vaccination
Apparently over 70% of the UK accept the vaccine compared to under 50% of the French so we need to watch the uptake in France

Apparently a poll in France indicates 60% would not take a covid vaccine. I didn’t know France were quite anti-vax in general.

Along with apparent lack of planning in terms of ordering vaccines and therefore being some way down the queue, it does not bode well for a mass vaccination scheme.

I think the previous comment about the locals being protected is more relevant than whether those visiting have the vaccination..... (if the vaccination proves effective).

Maybe renewing the membership was a bit of waste when I think about it. Though helping support ACO I guess.

It seems easier to accept it probably won’t be back to normal this time around. A delayed race again would seem to make sense.

We will wait and see.

Put my renewal in the bin today as it happens. Everything is on hold until the last minute as I got stung on the tunnel last year with 3 trips planned and only one happening - the one which happened actually was the LM24 in September. Whatever happens I'll be going to LM, but no point having the ACO membership if there's no viewing - except from our helicopter that is.

Have you spoken to Eurotunnel? All crossings are valid for 12 months
I had crossings and they put them on hold to the end of the 12 months (from booking date) and then you can make a booking for anytime in the next 12 month’s so you could gamble through to 2022.

I’m planning to do the same this year, followed your adventures last year and felt I should have done the same. So long as we can travel then I’ll see you at one of the stops, I can always get accommodation in Seés
