Fortunately in the meantime the ACO folks have come back and confirmed "there is no deadline to ask for a refund" and "you'll be able to do so once you receive your reservation ticket" which suggests it's necessary to go through the 2021 ticketing process first and then once you have 2021 tickets, either request additional tickets, arrange for a partial refund, or go for a full refund.
This makes no sense, but why does that not surprise me. So are they saying that you can
a) apply for full refund now
b) have credit note applied to tickets if there are no changes to your booking
c) buy more tickets tomorrow to add to your existing booking and then request refund if required
Just emailed them myself to see if I need to do anything, I don’t think so.

Indeed. Crystal clear... and you've probably received the response automatique from the ticket folks.

ACO said:
You are holding a 2020 LE MANS 24 HOURS Credit Note and want to attend the race in August

· Your voucher remains valid and your 2021 booking will be handled by the Ticketing Service on the basis of your 2020 Credit Note. Your tickets are already reserved. A new booking form will be mailed by post in the next days, and your Credit Note will be used as a payment. New tickets will be sent afterwards.

NB : In order to respect the sanitary measures in effect, only parking and camping areas outside the circuit are open. If your booking included a ticket in a parking or camping zone inside the circuit, the Ticketing Service will modify it.

· You booked grandstand, parking or camping tickets but no entry tickets: the Ticketing Service will automatically give you one entry ticket per each grandstand ticket, two entry tickets per each parking or grandstand ticket.

· If you need less tickets, you will have to contact the Ticketing Service once you receive your 2021 booking form to amend your booking. Then, you will be able to ask for a partial refund.

· If you need more tickets, you will have to make a new booking by contacting the Ticketing Service by phone at +33 (0)2.43.40.8000 or by email at serviceclients@lemans.org.

· Regarding the free access for children under 16, Student or disabled price, request must be made by phone or mail with the Ticketing Service.

You wish to get a refund on your 2020 LE MANS 24 HOURS Credit Note

You must registered to the following online form: please click here. Once registered, a full procedure will be sent to you by email later on in which you will have to provide your IBAN (International Bank Account Number) for a refund through wire transfer.

That email has far more information than anything I’d received. Just got this reply from the ACO which confirms my situation:

As explained in the automatic email, you have nothing to do.
We have already created your 2021 booking and will send you a booking form that you will have to confirm with your Credit Note.

You can already consider yourself as a spectator for the event in August !

Thank you for your understanding.

Online refund form filled out and an email also sent to back it up.

Ferry cancelled, seeking refund.

2021 non-attendance accepted mentally with fingers crossed for a normal June 2022 race.

They are being sent snail mail and anticipated to arrive sometime next week. You then need to email or call them if your requirements differ from what they have booked for you. Obviously they'll need your new address...

Received an email early this morning which states the refund request was acknowledged and I’d be sent another message requesting IBAN number. Refund would then be completed within 10 days.

Whether you can buy tickets or not you will need according to the ACO a French government health pass for which you need a French government social security number

The following was cut and paste from a French English language news site.

People in France who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and have not received a certificate of proof with two QR codes on it (see example in picture below) can obtain one through France’s state health insurance website Ameli. This is only the case if they have a valid social security number in France.

I asked about the health pass as some of our group may not be fully vaccinated by mid August. The ACO came back to me yesterday.

ACO said:
If the individuals are not vaccinated they are allowed to attend the event if they do a PCR test less then 48 hours before the event

I received an email after my booking with a link to the health protocol. It says, that the rules on foreign health certificates will be confirmed in July. Presently we recommend you arrange a PCR or antigen test in France with the results available no more then 48 hours before your arrival at the circuit.

I hope they will accept foreign health certificates (in my case dutch), its a bit difficult to get a PCR test in France and wait for the result.

You only need a PCR if you’re not full vaccinated

Hoping the ACO don’t change their mind and decide they want a negative PCR test for all to enter the circuit.
Although we’ll all need to get a test in France for re-entry into the UK, unless it’s a real flying visit.

I agree, I just hope they will accept the Dutch health certificate, so that way I can prove I am vaccinated.
