Struggling to get European breakdown cover for my 2003 TVR Tuscan, seems 16yrs old is the cut off for most companies.

Anyone able to recommend a provider?

Cheers
Richard

Have a read through this..........

OK, it cost me £13.00 a month but covers all my seven vehicles which includes cars, M/cycles and MoHo.

I’ve got a policy with Nationwide to cover a 2001 Jag, don’t forget it also covers you for travel insurance and mobile devices as well

I insure with Aviva, have a 19 years old SL600. I’ve added European breakdown for the year at about £100 as I’m travelling there a few time this year….also includes European travel and a few extras you don’t get when you go for the cheapest policy

I've used https://www.comparebreakdowncover.co.uk and got a good deal on a 4 year old Jaguar, but put in 2003 TVR for a week in France and they all want over £100 bandit

My 20 year old Ferrari is with Green Flag for £123.26.

You need to go via a comparison site though, they won’t accept older cars via their website.

Edited to add. That price is for annual cover including home start

I use Direct Line to get Green Flag cover for a 15 year old VW T5.

I used Compare Breakdown Cover for a one off trip for my Rangey. £38 and it includes the caravan.
That was for a week.
https://www.comparebreakdowncover.co.uk/?err=nocur...

Includes onward travel and repatriation.

I get 30 days free European breakdown cover included as part of my classic car insurance. OK my car's almost 50 years old rather than 16 but think you're in the ball park where some of the classic insurance brokers will start covering you so might be worth calling a few. Might well end up payinig less too.

Me too.

I think this is a typical insurance problem that I've had in the past. They only want to insure things that won't go wrong, so if you find a cheap deal do check that the smallprint doesn't exclude cars over 10 years old

Thanks all, at there are some options; other compare websites would not even quote.

I have just taken out European breakdown cover with the RAC for my 1999 Griffith for £80 (off to Spa tomorrow smile ).

My UK breakdown cover is with the AA, however even when using an existing member discount were more expensive than the RAC!

I spent a while on the phone earlier to verify the BMW roadside cover bundled with a new car for 3 years has continental Europe effect. The answer was an unequivocal maybe.
To 2 yeas old, no problem. Year 3, the advice was ‘should be ok but keep receipts and BMW U.K. will reimburse if not… that’s confidence inspiring!

I have a 21 year old Ferrari that was bought from an indy dealer and I am the 5th owner. Ferrari have confirmed that I am covered free of charge for their breakdown and recovery service pretty much anywhere in the world I am likely to take the car.

Just need to change my TVR badge with a prancing horse then…
